This choice: Taylor Smith, your landlady • Go Back...Chapter #3Taylor Smith, Your Landlady by: Alistair As you approach the door to see who it was, you saw the foot sat directly outside your window begin to tap in impatience.
“I know you’re in there Mr Little, we need to discuss the fact that your rent is a week overdue,” you recognised the flat tone of your landlady, Taylor Smith. You silently cursed your mom’s airheadedness, she had probably forgot to pay your rent, and now you knew you were going to pay for it with Taylor. She already didn’t like you because you wanted to be a lawyer, so this was extra aggravation that you didn’t need to give her.
Your fearful thoughts were interrupted as she spoke once again, this time sounding even more impatient.
“Don’t keep me waiting, I’m trying to be nice here, but I’m a busy woman and I can’t afford to waste any more time on a deadbeat lawyer tenant than I already have.”
Sterling your nerves, you opened the door and stepped out to face her.
Taylor Smith was an intimidating sight from the ground. Her well worn sneakers were sat less than six inches from where you were standing, and each one was large enough to cover half of your apartment. Looking up past them you could see her legs, covered by a pair of blue jeans, which seemed to stretch for miles above you. Her face was currently peeking past her massive breasts, which strained against what should be a loose fitting black blouse. Her black curls framed her face, the small part of it that you could see furrowed in an irritated expression. She was not a patient woman clearly.
Her demeanour and way of speaking indicated a working class background. Maybe she inherited wealth from somewhere and decided to invest in property? It didn’t really matter in this moment, and you were a little too afraid to ask.
Pressing her massive chest down so she could get a better view of you, she stared down at you intimidatingly. She could have easily bent down to get a better view at you, but you could tell that she was staying at her full height just to unnerve you, and it was working.
The silence carried over you two, and she cocked an eyebrow, clearly expecting you to explain yourself.
“Um... I-I didn’t know my rent was overdue, Mrs Smith...” you stammered, your throat suddenly very dry. “My mom normally takes care of it, if you give her a call I’m sure she can sort it out...”
A sudden flare of Taylor’s nostrils as she exhaled in annoyance told you this excuse wasn’t going to fly with her.
“I didn’t ask for an excuse, and second of all it’s Miss, not Mrs,” she huffed. “I expect my rent on time Mr Little, you wouldn’t think to take advantage of my kind nature, would you? I know it’s in most lawyer’s natures to be self serving but surely even you know that it’s illegal to not pay your rent. A few days late I could maybe understand but it’s been over a week! However, I will contact your mother about this, clearly you aren’t grown up enough to handle your own finances and would prefer to sponge off of her.”
Her jabs were starting to make you angry, you wouldn’t sit here and take this from her, even if she did scare the hell out of you.
“Come on, that’s not exactly fair, you know I’m starting an internship to get a job specifically so I don’t have to rely on my mom!” Your outburst surprised Taylor, whose eyes widened slightly.
“Well I’m glad to hear that Mr Little, I was going to have to ask your mother for reimbursement for lost income due to the lateness of the rent, but if you’re trying to be so self sufficient I think I have a better idea of how you can pay me back the extra amount. I’ll only take the original rent fees from your mother if you do this for me,” her tone gave away that she had perhaps underestimated you, but you swear you could also hear a faint mocking undertone in it as well.
Deciding that you had to prove yourself in some way to Taylor, plus it would save your mom having to pay any extra fees, despite it being her mistake in the first place, you decided to agree.
Nodding your head, you saw a small smile creep across Taylor’s face.
“Lovely, maybe you’re not as selfish as other lawyers I’ve had the displeasure of knowing. Now, lock your door and lets get going,” she said, and expectantly watched you walk back to your door and lock it.
Before you could even turn back to face her, you let out a yelp as two of her fingers suddenly pinched your torso and you rocketed up into the air as she stood back to her full height.
As you flew past the apartments above you, you saw several of your tiny neighbours looking out at you sympathetically. They had obviously heard the whole conversation since Taylor wasn’t exactly being quiet about it, and they also were fully aware of her dislike for you since that also wasn’t exactly a secret.
You were pulled upwards, stopping right in front of Taylor’s face. You forced yourself not to look down to the seemingly bottomless abyss of her cleavage, on display due to her low neckline, not wanting to upset her. You focused on her face, which was currently showing a neutral, almost analytical expression. Her green eyes looked you up and down, and it made you feel incredibly uncomfortable.
Without another word, she lowered you down and her face was obscured by her chest. You were placed in one of the pockets of her jeans, sealing you in relative darkness, apart from the small amount of light that filtered in through the stitching of her jeans.
You felt yourself pressed tightly between the tight jeans and her thigh as she began to walk, and eventually felt the rumble of her cars engine. As she drove off towards her next destination, you hoped that you wouldn’t be kept in this warm, claustrophobic space for too long. You also weren’t sure exactly where she was taking you, you would guess to her home, but you couldn’t exactly be sure.
*****
You weren’t sure how long the car journey lasted, but eventually you heard the engine turn off and felt the pressure of her walking again. As she walked, you heard her speaking to someone, but the deafening sound of the shifting fabric around you drowned it out enough that you couldn’t make out the conversation.
You were once again gripped tightly between her fingers as she grabbed you from the confines of her pocket. The breath was forced from your lungs when your torso was flattened by the probing fingers as she wasn’t able to see exactly where you were, rendering you unable to make a sound as you were rocketed once again up to her face.
In her other hand she was holding a phone to her ear, and as you heard the distorted sound of someone on the other end of it, you could tell it was the familiar voice of your mother.
“... excellent Mrs Little, I’m glad we have gotten that all sorted out, I’ll let you know once I receive the money in my account, and I’m sure your little Anthony will be of great help to me with this favour. Thanks, bye.”
She hanged up the phone, and slid it into her purse, before turning her attention back to you.
“Your mom tells me the rent will be on it’s way soon. Such a pleasant woman, it’s a shame her son turned out to be a bloodsucking lawyer,” her barbed words almost got another rise out of you, but she continued before you could answer. “But, if you do well on this job for me, maybe you can change my opinion of you.”
You weren’t sure exactly what it was Taylor was expecting you to do for her, but you hoped it wouldn’t interfere with your internship starting in a few days, although damaging your law career would probably be something she’d see as a bonus.
1) “I need you to do some legal work for me, free of charge of course. Even though I despise lawyers, in my line of work you come to need them from time to time, but I promise you this, if you slip up on this I will find another way to punish you.” What exactly does Taylor need you to help her with?
2) “I think that a selfish little lawyer needs to learn some humility before you can get to taking advantage of people who you come to represent. So I think to make up for my lost income, you’ll be doing some hard labour for me till your mom’s money comes in.” Taylor turns you into her temporary servant until your mom’s rent cheque clears, but will your airheaded parent forget to pay it again?
3) “My daughter, Gabrielle, has her 21st birthday coming up, and for the life of me I can’t decide what to get her as a present. So I think you’ll do, if your mom’s as much of an airhead as she seems, she’ll likely forget all about you, and I’m sure your apartment won’t stay vacant for long, I filled it quickly after she took a liking to the last tenant.” Taylor gives you to Gabrielle to do whatever she wants with you. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
