This definitely was a bad idea if he messed this up, but it was clear Miles wasn’t backing down from it at all.
Standing up on a rooftop in Brooklyn, he held up the Web-Watch carefully between his fingers. Sure it might’ve been a little old from one of his earlier adventures to another world, but it was still useable. Well it was after Miles had to double check for any damages, and make sure there’s nothing out of place. Come to think of it, maybe there needed to be a manual for how to make these things.
“Okay, let’s just put this on and…” Miles placed the device on his right wrist. It fit perfectly like a regular watch. Still, he couldn’t help but feel a tingle of uncertainty about his plan.
All he was wanting to do was visit Gwen back in her world. It'd been a while since they talked that didn’t involve having to go through a rescue mission or partake in the occasional gathering of Spider-Men and Women to stop a dangerous threat. Surely she could use a friend to hangout with, what’s the harm in that?
Dressed up in his Spider suit, Miles adjusted the watch one more time, and then turned it on. “This’ll send me to the right dimension, so long as I know exactly where to go. Shouldn’t be too hard.” He mostly wanted to say that to lessen his worries that’ll end up somewhere else. Last thing he’d wanted to end up was a dimension filled with zombies or an apocalyptic setting straight out of Mad Max.
Just the very thought of that made him grimace, but he brushed it away and hoped for the best.
“And here we go!” The watch came to life, and with a little tap a small purple portal materialized above him. He took a deep breath and jumped, entering its pull towards his destination, towards a world entirely different from the one he knew.
But what should’ve been a relatively quick and uneventful journey started to change when the watch began spewing electricity.
During the ride, Miles quickly caught the sight of the watch. “Ah crap!” Though the sparks hit his body it wasn’t causing too much pain, but something was happening to him. He was now rotating in the air and feeling a little lighter somehow. The watch must be affecting his body.
He quickly raised his arm to check on it, though he neglected to notice that he was about to be launched out of the portal and into a new world. So he had no time to prepare for a perfect landing when he popped out and crashed to the ground. Luckily he suffered no injuries, but he still felt a bit of pain on his back either way.
He groaned and forced himself up. “Ow..I really should’ve given this to Pete before I just messed around with it.” He quickly checked it out. It was badly damaged, no way can he fix it himself with most of its structure cracked. He sighed and took a few steps to think about what to do.
That was when he realized something. His surroundings was somehow way bigger than he expected as if he were in a massive field with several things in the distance. Why did it feel like he was suddenly smaller than everything else? That might be because he was.
“Oh no. Did the watch just shrink me?! How is it even possible for it to do that?!” Clearly this wasn’t a setting that the watch should allow, must’ve been because the watch exploded during his time in the portal. Now he definitely needed help to get back to normal AND fix his watch.
That’s when he realized another thing. Where the heck was he?
1): He was in Earth-65 like he’d originally planned, though he certainly wasn’t expecting to find himself in the middle of Gwen Stacy’s room. And as luck would turn out, she’d just arrived with a tired look on her face. Can he get her attention or will he be having some trouble trying to reach her with his tiny size?
2): He landed in what looked like a normal living room in a normal home, but it was clear that the owner was someone he didn’t expected. Wandering in the middle was Mayday Parker, also known as Spider-Girl, the daughter of Peter and MJ in Earth-982. Maybe she can help him out so long as she didn’t have other things to worry about?
3): Clearly Miles hadn’t expected to end up in the Brooklyn Community Center (Aka Spider-Base) which includes that of the rebellious Hobie Brown, otherwise known as Spider-Punk. That must mean that Miles’ in his world and is so small that most of the loudspeakers and some band equipment were as tall as buildings.
4): He was in a room belonging to that of one Peni Parker who pilots the SP//dr suit to stop evil threats in her world’s New York City. It might be easy to get her help since they’ve worked together at some point, but will it even be possible when she arrives in a bad mood?
