"Get back here, Alex," Justin called out as he followed his younger sister into their wizard lair.
"I already told you. I didn't break your stupid doll." Alex said, looking back over her shoulder. Spoilers, she totally did. She knocked it over when she snuck into Justin's room to steal five bucks to tip the pizza guy.
"I already told you, he wasn't a doll! That was my 20th anniversary, limited-edition Captain Jim Bob Sherwood." Justin corrected his sibling, but in truth, she didn't care.
"Why don't you just use magic to fix your stupid, Slim Bob-Whatever?" Alex replied, astonishing Justin with her reckless disregard for magical law.
"It's against the rules. You can't use magic to make money. Improving the condition will make it more valuable." Justin declared as Alex mimicked a yawn.
"Do you plan on selling it?" Alex asked plainly.
"Well, no." Justin paused.
"Then you aren't breaking any laws. You're welcome," Alex smirked, throwing her hair over her shoulder as she prepared to make a dramatic exit.
"Hey, that doesn't change the fact that you still broke my doll. Action figure!" Justin said, correcting his faux pas and drawing his wand.
"Oh, and what are you gonna do about it?" Alex teased, knowing exactly what came next.
"I challenge you to a cast-off! If I win, you fix my Captain Jim Bob Sherwood and give back whatever you took from my room," Justin announced. Making a formal challenge to his sister. Wizard Law dictated that she needed to accept so long as they were competing with one another to become the Family Wizard.
"And when I win, you'll owe me one favor, no questions asked," Alex responded with a dash of spunk in her voice. Having grown accustomed to these duels ever since their dad, Jerry first introduced them in a lesson a few weeks ago.
The idea was simple. It was basically a wizarding version of the game 'Say Uncle' where you try to embarrass your opponent to surrender with nothing but spells. Either official spells, which Justin excelled at. Or improvised spells, Alex's specialty, since she refused to learn and remember most spells that she couldn't use for mischief.
The game was over when one of the siblings admitted defeat or was unable to reverse the spell cast on them. Which usually, Alex the edge since she could often make up a spell to undo anytime Justin could cast on her, even with over 1,000 spells to choose from.
"Take this girl with brown hair, and turn her into a clown in time for the fair." Justin declared as he shot a bolt of light at Alex, transforming her clothes into a long, flowy jumpsuit, and covering her face with ridiculous makeup.
"Gotta learn to go with the flow. Put me back in my regular clothes," Alex announced, casting her counterspell, reverting to the appearance she had before Justin's spell.
"Justin, Justin, is a hater. Give my brother the face of a gator." Alex smiled, transforming Justin's face into the long and scaly form of an alligator. Giggling to herself at how ridiculous he looked.
"This face is not suited for a blizzard. Please remove this face of a lizard," Justin said out loud, fully realizing that Alligators were actually reptiles, but he couldn't think of a word that rhymed with that at the moment.
Justin's face returned to normal, and he readied his wand.
"Alex's boots are not courtly, make her feet a size forty," Justin said, making Alex's feet explode from her boots as they exploded to a comical size.
"No fair, I loved those boots!" Alex yelled. She was going to make Justin pay for that one.
"I'll overcome whatever Justin tries, take my feet, and make them the right size," Alex called out, her bare feet shrinking back to a size seven.
"Justin feels so big and tall. Flip the switch and make him small." Alex smirked, shrinking Justin to 2 feet tall in the blink of an eye.
"Why would you make up a shrinking spell? One already exists, and in fact, it also reverses the effects as well." Justin pointed out, compelled to follow the rules, no matter what, not realizing the unintended consequences that would befall him.
"Shrinka dink, shrinka dank, shrinka dunk," Justin said, trying to undo Alex's improvised spell. Unfortunately, the two spells mixed and made him even smaller as he watched an amused Alex get taller and taller right before his eyes.
Suddenly his sister was towering over him as he shrunk to the height of only six inches, no larger than the action figure that started this fight in the first place.
"Haha, that's hilarious." Alex laughed, unable to contain the giggles from escaping as her big brother got smaller than she ever intended to make him. He looked like a Pocket Elf.
"Yeah, yeah, very funny. Just undo the spell." Justin said, getting snippy with his giant sibling.
"Fine, Shrinka dink, shrinka dank, shrinka dunk." Alex waved her wand, but to both of their surprise, Justin didn't get bigger. Quite the opposite, he shrunk smaller again, this time down to only an inch tall. Forcing him to look up at Alex like she was the Statue of Liberty.
"Why would you use the normal shrinking spell now‽ You need to undo the first one you cast!" Justin explained, yelling as loud as he could in front of Alex's toes, which were painted a shade of red.
"I don't know how!" Alex replied, thinking about what she should do next.
"What‽ Fine, bring me to Dad. I'm sure he'll know a way to fix this." Justin ordered, facepalming at Alex's magical incompetence.
"No," Alex answered plainly, causing Justin to look up in confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Justin asked.
"I said no. I'll get in trouble for shrinking you. You can stay that small until I figure something out, in a day or two." Alex shrugged, pointing her wand back at Justin once more.
"I don't know how to respond, keep this a secret and give me Justin's wand," Alex said, taking Justin's tiny wand away from him before he could cast another spell, teleporting it into the palm of her hand.
"Wow, I can barely see this thing." Alex declared, looking at her palm to see that the wand was no bigger than a splinter. Still, it was too much of a risk to let Justin hang onto it. So she stuffed it in the little half pocket of her jeans.
"Now, what should I do with you?" Alex thought, wondering how she could best keep Justin out of the way until she figured out how to return him to normal.
What will Alex do?
1. Alex uses a spell to turn Justin's body into gum that never loses its flavor, saying that it helps her think. But Justin isn't exactly fond of the idea of being chewed by his sister.
2. With her boots destroyed, Alex decides to use a spell to adhere Justin to the bottom of her foot as punishment for ruining them, before conjuring another pair over him.
3. Justin asks Alex to at least pick him up off the floor, not wanting to spend too much time near her feet. So she puts him on the couch moments before their mom Theresa comes in after a dinner rush, looking for a quick place to rest her tired tush. Sitting on top of Justin before Alex can stop her.
4. Alex uses a spell to trap Justin inside a crystal that nobody but her can see inside, hanging it from the end of a necklace between her boobs. But when Harper notices her new jewelry, will Alex loan Justin to her best friend? Or keep him for herself?
5. Now that Harper knows about magic, Alex gives Justin to Harper, telling her that he's a copy made from the original. Using a spell to make him more durable so Harper can do anything she wants with him.
