Ghosts

Ghosts are the spirits of the dead. Ghosts are usually the souls of humans who's soul desire to stay that they are able to resist the pull of the otherside, usually at the expense of their mind. These remaining mindless spirits will occupy territory near where they died. Some are hostile and some are passive. When the war started it was found that when large groups of people die in a short time the pull of the otherside is weaker causing Ghosts to occupy battlefields.

Priests were used after battles to cleanse the spirits allowing them to move on. Although effective when available there are still many battles with no priests around or ghosts that do not wish to leave.
