I turned to find a short and petite brown haired, brown eyed teenage girl staring at me from a few feet away. She was wearing loose fitting blue jeans, a blue blouse and white tennis shoes. Her shoulder length hair was held back by a long hairpin on either side of her head. I do not know why but I could feel my heart beating upon setting eyes upon her.
"Um... yes." Slowly, I said. "We just finished unpacking; I was just exploring my new surroundings." I offered her my hand in a friendly gesture. "I'm Frank... Frank Vance."
The girl nodded before taking my hand and shaking it. "I'm Liv Le Vance; pleased to meet you."
I feared I might have been sweating a little but she did not say anything. "A strange coincidence that our names are so similar, don't you think?" Hoping to break the ice, I asked.
Liv shook her head. "Not really." Lightly, she replied. She then smiled. "Nice try to open a conversation, though."
I gave a nervous chuckle of which she returned with a genuine giggle, maintaining her smile. "I could show you around, if you don't mind getting questioned by a lot of boys."
That took me off guard. "What do you mean?"
Liv smiled. "Let's just say I have a lot of guys who see me as a sister or daughter." Cryptically, she said.
"Mind the boundaries, I get it." Smiling, I said. "I'm not scared to talk to anyone."
Liv shook her head, still smiling. "You are a brave one." In a teasing tone, she said.
"You get that way when your parents are private and paranormal investigators." Calmly, I replied.
"Ah... a ghost file chaser." Grinning, Liv said. "Interesting."
It was then I realized that Liv was fishing and I was almost all too readily telling her everything about myself. "Is the interrogation over or are you ready to show me the sights?" Ruefully, I asked.
Liv giggled, a sign of a blush on her face. "It took a bit to figure that out but faster than most." Calmly, she said. "I suggest we start with the malt shop, my friends are there so you can meet them all at once."
