The story of Sir Titus of Vimbi is a fairy tale come true. Born the bastard son of the Earl of Munternia and a local tavern wench, Titus became a squire to a knight of the Order at age thirteen. Titus saved his master and two other knights in one of those border skirmishes that spring up between Romanica and Anthronia even during peace time. For his act of heroism, Titus was knighted at the age of sixteen,

For the next twenty-four years, Sir Titus' exploits have had the bards of the kingdom working over time. Sir Titus singlehandedly killed a Great Ice Worm that had terrorized villages in the Kingdom's northern provinces and even threatened the Great Northern City of Ucharest. Sir Titus rescued an Anthronian princess from Ramvil the Bandit King's stronghold and thus preserved the peace between humans and anthronians. SIr Titus is the first human in a generation to be named dragonfriend, and has been granted the title of Chelar in the Anthronian Kingdom (Chelar roughly translates as Champion. Titus is only the third human to have been awarded that title).

As the years passed, the number of Titus' victories grew, as did his accolades. The hereditary title of Marquis of Vimbi, with associated estates, was created specifically for him. The legend of Sir Titus of Vimbi grew among all the intelligent races of Atore, and races that would usually react with hostility to a human would pause and listen to Sir TItus.

As Sir Titus celebrates his fortieth birthday, he decides to
