After popping some popcorn and filling a cup with root beer, I sit down on Ollie's beanbag. My tiny friend sits on my shoulder, still naked. He had not wanted me to shrink clothes for him. At Ollie's request, we are watching Honey We Shrunk Ourselves. However, he has never been one to sit through a movie. We are not even 20 minutes into the show when I feel the tiny boy climb my hair. I resist my instinct to swat him away like a bug.
Ollie says, "Watch this!" from the top of my head before cannonballing into the popcorn. As a daredevil, my friend is always doing crazy things without thinking. I have to dig around to find him and the bottom of the bowl. After assuring me that he is fine, Ollie proceeds to snack on the salty crumbs. I must seem like a monster as I scoop huge handfuls into my mouth. I could easily swallow him whole. With that slightly terrifying thought in mind, I take care not to eat my tiny friend accidentally.
After Ollie has his fill of popcorn, he says, "I think it is time for a refreshing swim in lake Root Beer." I pick him up and let him jump off my hand into my cup. Ollie was clearly enjoying himself, backstroking around the cup before diving down to get a drink. It is fascinating to watch him swim around. I am reminded of the time Ollie caught a minnow and kept it in his water bottle all day. On a dare, he ended up drinking it. If our roles were reversed, I would worry Olille might try to swallow me whole. As he surfaces, Ollie lets out a burp. It would have been big at his normal size, but it sounded small.
"Now I can finally beat you at a burping contest," I say with a smirk before gulping air. Then I place my hand on my stomach and lean over Ollie. I am able to produce a four-second burp, which is pretty good for me. In retort, he burps again, taunting me to prove I could burp louder than the king. Ever since middle school, Ollie has been able to out burp anyone, except maybe his little sister.
I need a little more soda, but Ollie will not get out of the cup. Instead, he wants to try and swim against the current while I drink. A bit reluctantly, I raise the cup to my mouth. Keeping an eye on my tiny friend, I down some of the soda. Ollie has always been a fast swimmer and easily avoids being sucked into my mouth. As I set the cup down, Ollie grins mischievously. "I probably should have told you that I peed in the soda."
"Wow, real classy," I roll my eyes. Then I pick Ollie up, holding him right in front of my mouth, before releasing my biggest burp ever. "You suck," I say through another burp.
Ollie just laughs. "Dude, I have to admit, you are a beast."
