Twins that don't get along

    by: only103 Author IconMail Icon
Katie and Sadie were identical twins, perfect mirror images of each other. They had a slim figure, fair glowing skin, and long dark hair that was akin to silk. They were two beautiful college students, all people would stare and gawk as they walked through their campus. Everyone knew them as the Perfect Twins of the Gladweld's Community College. But the two had a secret. For all their lives they've been at odds with each other. Not even their parents are aware of their feuds. They themselves don't even know who or what started their sibling rivalry, since it had started since they were kids. But, one thing that they do know is that they hate the other's guts with a burning passion.

Although the two couldn't stand each other, they often still put up the charade of them being two loving sisters. They try to spend as little as time possible with each other. Only staying together when going out and socializing. But other than that they have different aspirations, different beliefs, different lifestyles. Some say their duality of yin and yang are what draw people to them. Along with keeping up their facade they also share a cheep apartment with each other. They rather had not, but that was what all their peers were expecting of them. This often leads to some upsets between the two.

Morning was upon them as they both simultaneously woke up as the sunrays entered their shared room. They both sat up with such synchronization that would make professional synchronized swimmers envious. They had their beds on opposite ends of the room, along with wardrobes, desks, and shelves; making their room look like a mirror was going straight through the middle of it. After stretching and wiping the sleepiness from their eyes they both slowly looked to their side, seeing their mirror image that they had shared a womb with. Then the realization hit them as their eyes widened. Both hopped out of bed as fast as they could. and ran straight for their door.

Usually one would wake up before the other and would have the chance to use the shower as freely as they want. But this is one of the rare occasions when both were awake at the same time. They ran into each other and got jammed into the door frame trying to get ahead of the other. With a forceful pop they raced down the hall of their apartment only to find that their twin's hand was also holding onto the door knob to their single bathroom.

"I was here first, Sadie!" Katie said trying to push her sister away with her shoulder

"No you weren't, Katie!" Sadie said pushing back with equal strength.

"I'm taking a shower first!"

"No, I am!"

"Move out of the way!"

"Stop pushing me!"

"You're gonna use all the hot water like yesterday!"

"You're gonna take your sweet ass time in there and force me to rush getting ready!"

As they elbowed each other's sides, unbeknownst to them, laid a coin on the floor. A somewhat unusual coin. This was in fact a magical coin that granted the wish of its user.

"God! You're so annoying!"

"Geez! It's so frustrating dealing with you!"

"I'm tired of being a twin! I want to be my own self! Not Katie and Sadie. Just Katie!"

"You think I think it's fun being one?! I'm sick of it! I wish our egg never separated! So that it was just me!"

"I wish I was my own person!"

The coin under them started to glow, but the two were too busy fighting to notice. There were two wishes to be granted, but they had contradicted each other. Sadie wanted to have a life where she and her sister's egg hadn't split to create identical twins, leaving Sadie as a single individual. But, Katie's wish was to be her own person, beyond being only known as Sadie's twin sister. Leaving the coin on an impasse, it's solution was to compromise on both wishes. The coin flashed a bright light and filled the room with white.

Sadie woke up first. The first thing she noticed was that she was laying on the floor. She doesn't remember much, the last thing she could recall was fighting with her sister. She moved her right hand to her head to rub where she must have hit it on the way down. She then tried to use her left arm to push herself off the ground. What was strange was that her left arm wasn't responding. She turned to her left, only to feel soft warm skin press into her cheek. She instantly knew who this was. "You're too close Katie. Get away." She tried to use her left arm to push her sister away but it wasn't moving, So instead she used her right hand.

"Move over, Sadie." Katie had said, using her left arm to push her sister's face away. The two began to push their mirror image away from them but found it tiring and more difficult than it should be. Both had thought the other was just holding onto them, for some weird reason. They also felt a slight strain in their necks. After pushing for about a minute both had gotten tired of the other.

"Let go of me, Katie!"

"I'm not holding onto you! You let go, Sadie!" With all their pushing away from each other they saw that they were no further away than from where they had started. They realized this and tried to look at what was happening between them that was keeping them together. But when they looked down they didn't expect to see only one body. They both screamed as they tried to get away from each other. But without any coordination between the two they only accomplished in aimlessly kicking their respective legs and flailing their respective arms. After awhile they tired themselves out and had finally became calm.

They realized that they needed to coordinate to move properly, but with their little practice they were only able to sit up right on the ground.

"Let's try and stand up," Sadie suggested. Her sister nodded in response. Slowly but surely they were able to stand up straight, with only a little bit of teetering here and there. They finally found their footing. Sadie moved her foot to the right, but as she did Katie had moved her foot to the left. Making them fall over.

"What are you doing?" They both asked each other mildly annoyed, believing that it was their sister's doing that made them fall over.

"I'm trying to get to the bedroom. This is obviously something supernatural and we need answers." Sadie, the more direct and studious twin, said sternly.

"I'm trying to get to the bathroom. We can figure this out after we freshen up." Katie, the more lax and objective twin, said impatiently.

You have the following choices:

1. They go to their bedroom

*Noteb*
2. They go to their bathroom

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
