Chapter #4Into the tall grass by: sneakyk   (Mild pokemon pred interaction)
You can't imagine yourself outspeeding or outfighting the gigantic bird, so you decide to take the stealthy approach instead. The Pidgey may have the advantage of being able to scout you out from overhead, but the tall grass might prove dense enough to allow you to hide. Without further ado you rush into the tall grass, pushing your way through the surprisingly flexible green spires. After a few steps into the underbrush you get down and begin crawling through the dirt, wanting to minimize your profile as much as possible. The dense patch of tall grass provides you with much welcome shade from the sun, but the scents of various wild Pokemon hang heavy in the air around you.
Your tiny heart pounds as you ponder whether or not your cover will be good enough to hide you from the bird, or whether or not the bird is the worst of your worries in the first place. The sound of a sudden WHOOSH echoes from above and is quickly followed by a THUD and the noisy rustle of grass from the north. Although it's likely a bad idea , you get up and poke your head out between two of the blades of grass. Although your view is greatly limited by the grass patch around you, you catch a glimpse of the Pidgey searching left and right for you, and you quickly duck your head down, hoping the bird didn't catch a glimpse of you.
Not wanting to idly wait for the bird to hunt you down through the grass, you carefully crawl through the underbrush, aiming to get close to the east side of the patch, anything to distance yourself from the bird. THUD. THUD . RUSTLE. RUSTLE. The bird hops about through the grass, rustling it with its every hop, eager to hunt down this four-limbed worm, seize it into its beak, and break it down into nutrients in the depths of its belly. The gigantic Pidgey sporadically squawks, as if to let you know that it'll only be a matter of time before it gets you. THUD RUSTLE THUD RUSTLE. The hops grow louder. You quickly shift your way west in hopes of eluding the bird, doing your best to avoid disturbing the grass enough to key the predator off.
As you make your way west, however, you hear the THUDs of another potential predator headed your way. Before you can respond, an enormous Poochyena bursts through the grass in a mighty leap! The creature's forepaws smash into the ground right beside you, the gigantic canine pokemon's impressive fangs barred and ready to bite. Poochyena, a Pokemon famed primarily for three attributes: its vicious bite, its relentless hunting drive, and its cowardice when faced with opponents strong enough to harm it. Standing at 1'8 on average, this creature is even larger than Pidgey, substantially so in fact. You've traded one pursuer for another! Your curse your fate as the enormous creature....
...strolls right past you. Its (or rather, his) underside passing right over your tiny form as it charges for the approaching Pidgey. It seems as if the newfound pursuer is distracted, for now...
