Flavius wandered through the rapidly-filling convention hall, watching people lining up for autographs or interviewing people, chatting and buying comics and DVDs. He strolled along, keeping an eye on everything. He was turning a corner when...
Whump!!
"Huh-h-h-h-huuauaaaaaaaawaaaahhh!!"
Flavius turned around and laughed when he saw a toddler sitting on the floor, crying! He had clearly run straight into him without Flavius even realising it! The little boy was dressed in a set of denim overalls and a striped red and white shirt. He had soft, brown hair and little baby sneakers on his feet.
Flavius laughed, and knelt down to see what was going on.
"Awww!" he said, "Heeey there little fellah!"
He stared at the boy. He looked to be barely two years old.
"What's your name, huh?"
The boy continued to cry.
"Awww...shhhh...shh-shh-shh...it's alright lil' buddy! It's Okay! C'mere...Oooooh...What's your name, huh? Is it Roland? It's Roland, isn't it?"
Flavius hugged the boy and wrapped him in his cloak as he got up, holding the boy in his arms and kissing him.
"Shhhh...it's alright! C'mon! Let's go find mommy-daddy, huh? You want that? You want that Roland?"
"Woolan'..."
"Yes you are! Rooooland!"
"Wooolan..."
"C'mon, Sweetie, let's go find momma-dadda..."
Flavius started walking. He glanced left and right and all around, silently scanning the minds of everybody around him, before...
"Roland!...Rooooland!...Honeybaby where are you!? I'm sure he was here!..."
"Mama!" said Roland excitedly. "Mamma!!"
"Oooh!" said Flavius chuckling, and bouncing the boy in his arms, "It's Mama isn't it? Isn't it!? Yes it is! It's mama! C'mon, let's go find Mama!"
"Mama" turned out to be a girl in her late twenties, who was frantically moving from stall to stall, table to table asking people desperate questions. She was slim, tall and beautiful and when she spotted Flavius...
"ROLAND!!"
"Hehehehehe...Look Roland! It's mama!"
"Mamamamamamamamamamamamamamamamamama!!"
"Roland darling sugarpudding!! Where have you BEEN!?"
Flavius laughed. He unwrapped the little tot and handed him over.
"He's okay, ma'am, he's just a little jittery...ain'tcha Roland? Ain'tcha!? Who's a sweet little boy huh? Who's been a good boy? You be a GOOD boy for mommy now and don't you run away no more, OK?"
He kissed the boy on his cheeks and smiled, "Bye-bye Roland! Don't you worry, if you cry I'll be here to keep an eye on you, OK? Bye now!"
"Roland you scared mommy half to death you know that!? Where did you find that nice boy who..."
But when Roland's mother looked up, the tall, handsome youth with the wavy blonde hair had already disappeared into the crowd...
