Chapter #4

An Athlete's Test

by: Anakin Solo Author IconMail Icon
Drew was stunned. He just stood there looking at the space Billy…the now HUGE Godzilla sized Billy had just been standing. The floor had vibrated and he was just gone. Cold dread went down Drew’s spine. He had been so tough, so strong but now, in seconds, a nerd girl had nearly squashed him like he was nothing and the jerk Drew was paying to do his homework was a freaking monster out of a movie. Drew’s grip on his pants went slack and they fell down around his ankles. What was he going to do?

Drew didn’t get much time to ponder his situation. BRING DINGALINGALING BRING! A sound loud enough to make Drew’s ears hurt and make his whole-body shake sounded off from somewhere impossibly high above. Was…was that the bell for next period? That thought went trough Drew’s head as the ground rumbled beneath his feet.

Drew spun around and, in the distance,…distance to him he saw…there really wasn’t something that could be compared to what he was seeing. Drew watched as giant legs in all shapes, and colors came spilling through was looked like a far off cut between two mountains (a door way). The only thing the giant monoliths had in common was that they were all BIG and they were coming closer. Drew made to run but he tripped over his pants that had still been on the ground. Scrambling as if he was on the track and couch had just yelled go Drew recovered and took off not even knowing where it was he was running to.

BOOM! Drew ran right when a giant white sneaker landed to the left in his way. BOOM! Drew changed direction when a dark brown flat reminiscent of a canoe only a lot bigger landed right in front of him. Drew took no notice of the bare skin and the ankle going up and up….he just RAN. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! More shoes, more feet landed all around him. Drew never stopped moving and he was lucky. There were several near misses. One pair of brown loafers landed right next to drew, like so close that the leather of the shoe scraped up against him and Drew was pushed off course. Drew’s luck had run out. One misstep and Drew took a dive and rolled out of the sheer momentum he had been putting into the mad dash. Drew was on his back and saw the sky get blotted out and a smooth, black, dirty cealing come crashing down to kill him. “NOOOOO!” Drew curled up into a ball. BOOM!

Drew opened his eyes. He could open his eyes. He wasn’t dead. How was that? How was he not dead. Drew looked up and saw the contours of the dirty dark surface above him slop away from his face and up to form a arch…shit it was a heel…a ladies shoe…god bless high heels. Drew was crying and scurried to get out from under the shoe. His head hit the top causing dust and gunk to fall down into his hair and around him…it was that close. An inch…less than an inch and he’d be dead.

Drew staggered out and looked around seeing he was in a canyon of sorts. On either side of him were massive buildings, the desks. And at those desks were students…Drew’s classmates and peers. Former peers. They were huge. Drew looked down through his blurry vision as the moving legs and twitching feet that had nearly killed him. There were more woman’s shoes with heels, some so low he couldn’t have crawled under them but other so high he could stand under them and not even need to slouch. And there were buss sized shoes of leather, boots. “I…I need to get out of here.” Drew said. He turned and looked up at the girl who had nearly crushed him. The giant. He couldn’t see who she was or even really make out any details. Her legs were bare up to the knee then there were tight leggings and he could see a shoulder and other curves but her face was too far and blocked from his view. It didn’t matter. Drew turned his gaze down to…the door. Where was the door? Looking through the massive pillars Drew tried to figure out where he could go to get out of her.

Drew was so distracted by trying to figure out where he was in the classroom that should have been as familiar to him as his own home but now as an alien metropolis filled with giant monsters that he didn’t see the danger.
