The scientist and agents of the experimental genetics departement of the FTSA (Federal Technology and Science Agency) were celebrating like never before. Their 13 hard years of work had payed of at last.
The executive director Dr Henry Martin, of the project which was codenamed Ceasar was thinking back at the work they had done whilst holding a glass of champagne.
He had arrived at the FTSA 28 years ago as a young man full of ideas. Despite some initial problems he quickly advanced to become one of the the leading experts in primate genetics, biology and ecology. After 15 years of almost uninterupted succes in areas such as research on the evolution and genotypes of different primate species (including humans) he was asigned to the work of his life.
Phase 1 Project Ceasar was such an ambitious task that it bordered on Science fiction. The directive was to somehow be able to change the species of primates.
It seemed impossible but Dr Martin and his dedicated team was always up for a challenge. And after 8 years of hard work the method to achieve their objective was at last found. With the use of special engineered viruses a piece of revolutionary genetic code could quickly be inserted into the subjects body. The genetic code would then rewrite each cell in the body as to change it into the preffered creature. Then the virus was killed of using a specially designed antigen. It was brilliant.
And after 5 years of incredibly succesfull testing they had arrived at this point. The government had at last greenlit their project for a large scale experiment in the field. The government wanted to use the punishment as an alternative to capital punishment but prisoners were deemed to much of a risk for early experiments because of the high probability of them being exposed to high doses of drugs that could be of harm to the virus.
Instead the government wanted the experiment to be conducted on some of the most physically healthy indivudals that could be found, 18-20 year olds.
After a long search process the targets for the experiment were found. A senior high school class.
