“Ugh... my feet are killing me...”
You’d been walking for what felt like hours now through the Dungon land. Due to the paths here not exactly being built for humans, it meant that the terrain was naturally very rough. It didn’t help that you were carrying a massive pack on your back either.
“Quit yer’ belly achin’ back there! You should be glad we didn’t leave yer’ body for dead when that harpy attacked back there!”
The man in front of you and his two companions laughed as they continued gleefully walking. He was your party leader, Darius. Due to some lingering debts you held, he more or less forced you to join his adventuring party in exchange for him repaying them. As much as you hated to admit it, he wasn’t wrong about having saved you. If it wasn’t for them, a stray Minotaur or Harpy would’ve easily killed you a dozen times over. Magic or combat-wise, you were effectively worthless. The only reason they bothered keeping you around was for transport and your one useful skill. Somehow, you were born with an innate ability to find treasures or other valuable items. Obviously, it didn’t mean much if you couldn’t actually obtain those valuables, but that's what parties were for, right?
“Hey, that money radar of yours go off yet? I don’t wanna stay in this rotten place any longer than I got to.” Said the man to the right of Darius, whose name you think was Quentin. He was a large, burly man, acting as the frontline for the party.
“I-I think it’s just beyond that hill.” You pointed to a grey hill in front of you, which overlooked a massive wall made of rocks.
“Really? I don’t see nothin’ but a bunch of rocks past that.” Darius was naturally dismissive of your claim, but your treasure sense was going crazy.
“I’ve never felt anything like it! This might be the largest source of treasure I’ve ever sensed...”
Just as you finished talking, the 3 men in front of you bolted forward, each one wanting to get their own piece of the pie. You desperately ran after them, but you couldn’t shake a bad feeling. There wasn’t a single monster near this place. If there really was a giant source of valuables, surely there would be more monsters here wanting to take advantage of it?
After some tired steps, you finally made it over the hill. The other party members stood in front of it, taking in the view of the rock wall. Well, more what was inside the wall. There was a gigantic entrance in the mountainside, easily spanning over 100ft tall. Judging from the height and the potential source of treasure, that could only mean one thing.
“This is the lair of a Dragoon.”
The three men turned back to look at your now frightened face before Darius chuckled.
“What, you scared of some big lizard or somethin’? If this ‘ere is the cave of a Dragoon, then that means there’s gotta be loads of gold inside! C’mon boys, It’s lootin’ time!”
Before you could protest, they rushed into the darkness of the cave opening. You considered just staying outside, but then Darius yelled from inside.
“Yer’ ass better get over here too, or I’ll kill ya’ before the Dragoon does!”
Despite your better judgment, you ran in after him. Upon entering the massive cave, you notice a golden glow coming from deeper within. Its shine was bright enough to illuminate a good portion of the cave, almost acting like the lure of an Anglerfish.
“Hey boss, we struck the jackpot! There’s a huge pile of gold coins here!” Quentin yelled out, having already reached the treasure horde.
You decided to try one last time at warning them, considering you knew all too well the tales of Dragoons.
“W-We really shouldn’t take any of that gold! Their treasure is one of the things a Dragoon protects most dearly, and if anyone steals-”
“Pfft, if this so precious to em’ then where is it? Stupid lizard brain didn’t even install a door or somethin’...”
Darius ignored your warning and continued to rummage through the pile of gold. Suddenly, a chill ran down your spine and you hid behind a large pillar of rock. You weren’t sure what it was, but something very dangerous was here.
“Hey boss, check this out! Look’s like some kinda big tooth...”
Quentin pointed towards something on the other side of the gold pile, prompting you to peek out around the pillar and Darius to walk closer. And then, the entire cave became illuminated. No one had a chance to react before an enormous roar broke out. The tooth in front of Quentin rose up into the air, unveiling the gigantic maw of a red Dragon. The creature immediately moved forward and closed its mouth, eating Quentin instantly.
“Aw crap! Time to book it!”
Darius immediately ran away across the pile of gold as the Dragon rose from the ground. It had been waiting in the darkness just beyond the gold pile, likely expecting some intruders to arrive. Its massive body took up the back portion of the cave, though its wings were kept tucked in. You also wanted to run away, but the fear caused by such an enormous beast caused you to freeze in place.
It slowly began walking forward, its clawed hands displacing large amounts of gold. You watched Darius attempt to run across the shifting gold hill, coming across his other fleeing teammate.
“Nothing personal Zacian, but you know what they say about running from a bear!”
His teammate, who you now learned to be called Zacian, stared in confusion before Darius pushed him down to the ground as a means of slowing the Dragon down. Of course, it didn’t even register as a blip, and he was immediately trampled underneath one of the Dragon’s hands. Darius yelped as he saw his forced sacrifice do nothing, but luckily for him he finally reached the end of the gold pile. As he slid down the hill of coins, an enormous roar broke out behind him. Both of you could only watch in horror and amazement as the Dragon began transforming into something more... humanoid. You did hear stories about Dragoons being able to shift between Draconic forms and more human-like ones, but you never thought it to be real!
Just as Darius touched the ground, the Dragoon stood to its full height in a new form. The Dragoon, who you now discovered was female, easily towered over any creature or building you had ever seen. You couldn’t fully make her form out, but other than a pair of black horns and a large tail, she looked similar to a normal human. Her booming voice then spoke out, snapping both you and Darius out of your mesmerized states.
“Mm, this form is much nicer for chasing down greedy, overconfident intruders.”
She stepped forward, her foot landing with an earth-shattering impact as it just barely misses Darius. You quickly hide behind the pillar again as Darius approaches you, but it's too late.
“Here, make yourself useful for once! You’re the one who got us into this mess after all!”
He grabs you by the arm and tosses you towards the incoming Dragoon, whose towering figure casts a shadow over both you and Darius. Much to Darius’ chagrin, all the loot in your pack spilled on the ground as you hit the floor.
“Ah, dammit. Guess I better find some other schmuck to find loot for me.”
You close your eyes and wince, expecting the Dragoon’s foot to land on you and end in your instant demise if you’re lucky. But strangely enough, no impact ever comes. Instead, you hear Darius yell out from behind you.
“W-What the hell!? Why’re you goin’ after me when there’s fresh meat right in front of ya’!?”
You open your eyes, only to see Darius being picked up by the Dragon’s giant fingers, and lifted high into the air towards her face.
“Hmph, bold speech from one as cowardly as yourself. Considering how rotten your personality is, I can’t imagine you’ll taste very good either.”
“W-Wait a minute you stupid liz-!”
But before he can finish his sentence, you see his silhouette drop into the Dragoon’s maw, followed by a gulp. Though that gulp sound might’ve been from you, considering her attention turned to you next.
“Now little human, you are the last one left.”
Unsure what to do, you simply sit up and scooch back a little. You definitely weren’t getting out of here alive, so you more or less accepted your fate. But once again, the Dragoon surprised you. Instead of making some angry roar, a menacing comment or simply stepping on you, she just sighed. She began sitting down, her gigantic legs effectively forming a fence as they stretched out on either side of you. Her butt landed with an enormous thud as she finished sitting down, sending up dust everywhere. Once the dust cleared, you finally got a good look at the Dragoon in front of you.
She had black and red scale armor covering up her waist and torso, though her thighs, legs and arms were bare. Additionally, it only covered half her chest, showing off a rather gratuitous amount of pale white skin and cleavage. Her chest in particular was a sight to behold, practically looking like a mountain itself. She had long fiery red hair, matching the red scales of her dragon form earlier. Though the look on her face was a stern one, with her eyes practically staring daggers at you while you sat there between her legs
Now the problem is, what did she want with you?
