It was an open-day at the university campus, and Terry was eager to explore. He might struggle with the finances, but he knew he had the brains for his favourite course.
It was frustrating to see the opportunities that could open up for him, if he could sort out the money. Each department was eager to attract new students, clever applicants who could bring money to the university, and in time a boosted reputation, too.

Terry wasn't sure who Professor McGuigan was, or even which department he worked in, but there was a standing offer. One that Terry couldn't believe, or refuse. $500 to be a test subject! It was easy money, and an introduction to someone he could (hopefully) impress with his intelligence.
The invitation was for an alleged body swapping machine. A device that Terry was fairly sure didn't and couldn't exist. Frowning, he had to wonder if this was more in the lines of a Psych experiment, testing the credulous, and the scientifically illiterate.
The money was there. Actual physical cash, the colour change ink confirming it was real. He could have a talk with the Professor, and prove he wasn't gullible, maybe make a good impression of scientific curiousity, and healthy skepticism.
