It was at that moment, that Robert felt a vibration from his phone. Pulling it out, he saw that it was a notification from one of the in-barn security systems, for the room of a B-Grade mare, for an additional occupant. He opened it up, and saw that a mare named Mary was being visited by a C-Grade buck named Tom. Clicking on the section for In-Room Camera Feed, which came from a discreetly hidden camera that saw almost everything in a room, Robert saw that the visit was, if nothing else, a friendly one. But then, he saw something that caused him to smile, when Mary took her tunic and skirt off, went to her bed, and invited Tom to join her. Tom, after removing his clothes, soon joined her, and began kissing her. Soon enough, things progressed a lot further than mere kissing.
"Are you sure he's a C-Grade?" James asked, watching the footage.
"Bordering on B-Grade," said Robert, as he closed the camera, so that the pair could have some privacy. "Veterinarian had to go with the lower grade in his case. Still, not a bad pairing in any case."
"I'm surprised that you're not watching any more," said James.
"I'd be notified if the situation changed, and we can watch the whole footage on our own time," said Robert. "Still, I like to give them their privacy."
"Um, what if someone else, say one of the farm hands, decided to go into one of the livestock's rooms, with the occupant, and did something with said occupant?" James asked.
Robert grinned. "If there's a particular mare you like mating with, I won't bother watching. I did a lot of that at your age. Many farmers with human livestock lay with them from time to time. Helps them out in the long run."
"I'll keep that in mind," said James.
"Just make sure to respect them," said Robert. "A hundred years back, your ancestor shot and killed his own brother, all because the fool had raped, and eaten, a mare that was Prime Grade. Thankfully, she had some offspring, so her line's still around, but it seems that your ancestor liked that particular mare, and was pissed to find out what his brother had done. Even to this day, we still have issues talking to that side of the family. Also, our ancestor was the younger brother of the two, and since the brother's child was in some woman's belly, our side got the farm."
"I see," said James. "So, we got the whole farm, because our ancestor killed his own brother, over a mare?"
"Well, rustling back then was punishable by hanging, and your ancestor had indeed claimed said mare as his," said Robert. "Even then, Prime Grades weren't easy to come by."
"I see," said James.
"So, keep that lesson in mind when it comes time for inheritance," said Robert. "Don't touch any livestock that your siblings want."
James chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind."
"Good, now, let's see whom we can have bred."
