One week later, I was upstairs in my room checking out some of the clothes that Elizabeth had bought for me the day before. Meanwhile, Dr. and Mrs. Daniels were downstairs, getting ready for a day at the beach to celebrate something called the Fourth of July.
I soon came across a strange article of clothing, which looked almost identical to my undergarments, only much skimpier. I walked down the hall to Elizabeth’s room with the item in hand and knocked on the door. Elizabeth answered a moment later, wearing an almost identical outfit to the one I held.
“Hey Bridget; what can I do for you?”
“What is the purpose of this piece of clothing? It looks like my undergarments, yet you’re not wearing anything over them. I’ve also determined that it won’t cover much of my body.”
Pulling me into her room, Elizabeth said, “It’s called a bikini; it’s a type of swimsuit worn by people that look like us. Girls our age like to wear them to attract attention from boys.”
I processed that for a moment. “Yes, I recall seeing many girls wearing such a thing in the movies I’ve watched. Boys do seem drawn to girls when they’re dressed this way. Perhaps I will be successful in gaining that attention for myself.”
“You want to have guys flirting with you? I didn’t realize you could show physical attraction.”
“Not yet, but I'm learning. I want to experience what it’s like to be intimate with a boy.”
“Okay, you’re clearly more complex than I thought,” Elizabeth said with an uncertain look on her face. Hearing the sound of car doors closing outside, she said, “Come on; get into that bathing suit, so we can get downstairs and go to the beach.”
