A wave of adrenaline flows through you.
“No!” you blurt out, equal parts afraid and outraged.
“Awwwww, fine.” It-she? draws out a disappointed groan, tilting her head to the side for extra overdramatic effect. You notice now that she’s laying down on her belly, arms crossed with her head towards you, and behind her you could see movements that you could only assume were her legs raised up and swaying back and forth.
“In that case, can we at least be friends?” she said, her mood brightening up suddenly. She was staring right at you again, her ghostly white “eyes” bearing into you, eagerly anticipating your answer.
You were extremely confused and still a good bit scared. Your stern reply seems to have dissuaded the giant monster from making a meal out of you, for now at least. You didn’t feel like pressing your luck any further... and having a potential “friend” could be a good thing in case there were more beings like her in these woods who weren’t as amiable...
“Y-yeah, i guess we can be friends” you mutter out, but then produce a spooked yelp as a massive clawed hand swooped in towards you.
“Yay!” the giant monster squealed out happily, quickly grabbing you and standing upwards, doing a little spin and jump with you in her hand out of sheer joy. The fear still fresh in your system, coupled with the very sudden movement actually made you feel slightly sick.
“Wait! I haven’t introduced myself yet, have i? Silly me!” she said, opening her hand. You meet with her face-to-face again, as it were, sitting down on the dark fuzzy expanse of her palm.
“I’m Baylee! But my friends just call me “Bay” or “Lee” for short. And by friends i mean... just you. Yeah. haha...” she laughed awkwardly.
“Aaaanyways” she changed the subject quickly, her eyes rolled around in the otherwise empty sockets of her skull.
“Wanna do some friend stuff together?”
“L-like for instance?” you ask, feeling a surge of fear in yourself for some reason. Maybe it was the way she was looking down at you, maybe it was a normal response given the situation.
“Oh, um. I was hoping you’d know. I’m kinda inexperienced in this whole “friend stuff” business... ” she says.
“Let’s see, what do friends do to-ge-ther...” she pondered, tapping a sharp claw against her bony lower jaw, producing a faint echoing clacking sound.
While she seems deep in thought, you try to chime in with a “Maybe we could-”
“Oooh i know!” she exclaimed suddenly enough to make you jump.
