Chapter #4

The Shrunken Sensei

    by: PenSlayer5 Author IconMail Icon
Kakashi Hatake had seen his fair share of fantastical techniques over the years, but never one quite as unique as the one his student Sakura hit him with just now. It was similar to the Akimichi clan's body expansion Jutsu but the complete inverse of it.

Rather than the user increasing in size, the user instead downsized whomever they touched with their own chakra. It was fascinating and no doubt complex for a rookie kunoichi of Sakura's skill level to perform. Kakashi dared say he was actually impressed.

His other potential students were also impressive in their own way. Sasuke for example was definitely the most skilled because not only had he manage to perform a high-ranking flame technique, but he also succeeded in touching one of the bells tied to his hip.

Naruto was also a surprise with his mastery of the Shadow Clone Jutsu. While he definitely needed to work on sanding down the rough edges of his skills, there was a pot of potential there that could be molded and shaped into something truly extraordinary.

Yes, he was certainly going to pass team seven this year. Not only had they somehow pulled together at the last minute to try and get the bells from him, but they also quite literally had him surrounded on all sides. That move Sakura hit him with was a doozy.

He was so small now. The grass was like a forest and his students stood as tall as mountains. If he had to make an educated guess based on the size of the grass and the size of the three Genin, then that would put him at about three or four inches tall.

'Was this what it was like for Sensei facing down the Nine-Tailed Fox?' He wondered to himself. While his students were no tailed beasts, they were certain as big as one from his perspective. He needed to remember to ask Sakura about her technique later.

"Alright! We got him!" Naruto cheered. They finally managed to take down their cocky sensei after he spent the better part of the training exercise making fools out of them.

"Hn." Sasuke's grunt of approval and small smile were a clear sign he was also pleased by the outcome of the test. He didn't even want to entertain the idea of failure.

"I can't believe it worked." Sakura practically squealed. He voice was so loud now that Kakashi had to fight not to plug his ears or show any clear signs of discomfort.

"What was that technique anyway?" Naruto asked. Both Kakashi and Sasuke were wondering the same thing, and an explanation would be much appreciated.

The pink-haired girl started rubbing the back of her head with a bashful blush on her cheeks. "It's just a little technique I've been working on since my second year at the academy is all."

"I've never heard of a technique that shrinks people though." Sasuke spoke calmly. "The only size altering Jutsu I know of are from the Akimichi clan and even then, they don't shrink themselves or people down to size."

"That's actually where I got the inspiration for my technique from." Sakura explained. "I remembered hearing Choji talking about it during class and then thought to myself, what if that similar technique was done in reverse."

"That makes sense. Sakura's super smart like that." Naruto crossed his arms and nodded. He was able to follow her explanation pretty well and meant it when he called her super smart. She did do the best academically in the academy after all.

"Stop it, you're making me blush." Sakura waved off. While she would've preferred to hear praise form Sasuke, she wasn't against hearing it from Naruto at the moment. He brand-new super-secret killer move was a smashing success and victory was assured. "Now all that's left to do is capture Kakashi-Sensei and then..."

She was cut off by the sound of an alarm. All three Genin froze when they heard the telltale sound signaling that the test was over. They'd spent too much time talking and completely forgot about their sensei and the bell test.

"Oh no..." Sakura felt as if a pit just opened in her stomach. She and her teammates hadn't just failed the test had they. If so, then that meant going back to the academy and starting from square one all over again.

"At ease everyone." Kakashi called from the ground between them. "There's no need to worry about the alarm. You pass."

And with that, the bell test was over. They'd passed. They'd all actually passed. All three Genin celebrated in their own with Sasuke's being the most time, a simple smile and hands in his pockets. Naruto was pumping his fist in the air while Sakura leaped with joy.

Kakashi could do without all the leaping as it felt like a mini earthquake on the floor. If he hadn't braced his feet with his chakra then he would've no doubt been brought down.

Once everyone settled down however, Kakashi regained the groups attention. "Sakura? Would you mind undoing your technique now."

"O-Of course. Sorry sensei." She giggled nervously before making the proper hand signs. "Release!"
