I curse as a breeze blows me over our fence. I really should have thought about the dangers of parachuting out of a window. Oh well, I wanted an adventure anyway. Plus, it is Maddie and Megan's yard. I land softly on a big flower. A fat bee buzzes around me. I can see the pollen on its legs. Since I am not sure what the bee might do to me, I slide to the ground.
In the distance, I hear voices. I look to see Maddie and Megan coming out of their back door. The two girls are gigantic, standing high above me like a skyscraper. They wear short shorts and tank tops. "You lost the bet, you have to do it," I hear Maddie say to Megan. They stop in the garden, not too far from me. Maddie kneels on the ground and digs in the dirt. After a little bit, she pulls out a worm. It wriggles between her fingers. "Here, eat this one."
Megan makes a face as she extends her hand. She hesitates before opening her mouth, worm dangling just above her tongue.
"Do it...do it...do it," chants Maddie.
Megan drops the worm onto her tongue and closes her mouth. She throws back her head and swallows. I shudder, thinking of the worm traveling down her throat. Megan sticks out her tongue to show her sister that it was gone.
Maddie laughs, "I can't believe you actually swallowed it. You are going to be craping that worm out tomorrow."
"Ugh, don't be so gross," says Megan, also laughing. Next, the girls...
