There was no further elaboration as to what the pendant would do, but Melona assumed it would probably enhance someone's strength. It wasn't something particularly enticing, but it seemed relatively easy to put together, and Melona couldn't help but be a little curious to see what it would do.
She returned to the dorm after picking up a few things from the market. The necklace could be made from things Melona already had for her Curses and Enchantments class, but she did need to go out of her way to purchase stardust. It wasn't easy to come by, and even the tiny pinch that she bought cost her most of the meager allowance she had saved up, but she wanted to be as accurate as possible.
After working carefully for several hours, she had completed the pendant, a star made of brass that she decided to hang from a simple chain. On the inside of the metal, Melona had to make intricate carvings and then carefully ration out the stardust to sprinkle over those symbols, but on the outside it looked sort of cheap, and Melona wondered why the carvings couldn't just be on the outside like most enchanted objects. Still, it was time for the final step, the one Melona dreaded the most, as it was the part she always failed at. Now that the pieces were in place, Melona needed to infuse the pendant with Mana in order to get it to work. She clutched the star in her hand and focused as hard as she could...
"Ah!" She gasped, surprised, as she felt a large amount of mana sucked out of her body, enough to make her feel slightly dizzy. Had it worked, then...?
There was only one way to find out. Melona draped the necklace around her neck, and waited for something to happen...
