Getting Ready For School

As you put on your school uniform, you couldn't stop thinking about the crazy dream you had last night. Being a giant, towering over your house, it felt so real in the dream. Sadly, you knew it could never be reality. People just don't grow that tall. Sighing, you went downstairs to go eat breakfast before school.

In your kitchen, you saw that your two sisters had gotten there before you and were already eating. "Morning," you said as you poured yourself a bowl of cereal. Your younger sister, Emma, grunted something mid-bite, while Kayla, your older sister, didn't respond or look up from her phone. Deciding it was too much effort to make conversation this early in the morning, you eat in silence.

Kayla was the first to finish, with Emma following her not long after. "Hurry up, short stuff," Kayla said. "If we don't leave soon we're going to be late." You frowned when she brought up your height. Just because she was 5'10" while you were a flat 5'0" didn't give her the right to pick on you for it all the time. For some reason, she only ever makes fun of you, when Emma wasn't much taller at 5'2". You always wished you were tall enough to look down on her the way she looked down on you, but life just hadn't worked out that way.

Emma snapped you out of your thoughts by tapping on your shoulder. "Leave it this time," she told you. "Let's just go, ok?"

When you stood up, you noticed that you were looking directly into Emma's eyes, instead of slightly up at them like you were used to. "Did you get shorter or something?" you asked her.

"Are you alright, Lindsay? We've been the same height for a while now. That might change if I have anything left in my growth spurt, but there's no way I'm getting any shorter."

"Last time I checked, I was 5 nothing," you replied.

"You're definitely 5'2", like me. No need to sell yourself short," Emma giggled at her accidental pun. "Are you coming down with something? Maybe you have amnesia?" she asked, looking concerned.

This was strange. You knew for a fact that you were shorter than Emma (much to your displeasure), but Emma was acting like you had always been two inches taller than you really were. Maybe this was somehow connected to the dream you had, and wishing yourself taller was making you taller. You didn't feel any different, however. Somehow you had to figure out what was making Emma act so strange.

"Hey shorties, I'm leaving," Kayla announced. "If you want to get to school on time I suggest you come with me."

Emma gathered her stuff and made her way out. "Are you coming Lindsay?" she asked.

You thought for a second before deciding. . .

You have the following choices:

1. You decide to go to school

*Noteb*
2. You decide to stay home "sick"

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
