It's the year 2436 and humanity has began expanding out into the unknown galaxy... The text came up before the main menu.
"Huh... it's a sci-fi game... I would not have thought that..." Ashley commented barely reading the text.
"Why not?" Shelby inquired not even bothering to read the exposition.
"It's called The Magic Blade," Ashley explained.
"And?" Shelby didn't see an issue with it.
"Magic isn't something you usually see in sci-fi, unless you count Star Wars" Ashley elaborated.
"Oh..." Shelby still didn't quite get it and let the text continue.
After the Corporate Wars, Earth has been left in ruins and will take years to recover. Now each Corporation has made their own place in the galaxy...
"Did you get any of that?" Shelby asked.
"A little bit... Basically Earth was on the brink of collapse, the governments were running out of money, so corporations began funding the bills and took over. They all decided to expand outwards but with claims of resources not being honoured they went to war and destroyed Earth, now they're at an uneasy peace. It's run of the mill and other than in game factions probably doesn't matter too much to game play."
Once the text was over the main menu appeared

"Oh cool, it's couch co-op, you don't see too much games like that anymore" Ashley said excitedly as she got up and pulled the second controller out of her TV unit draw. She pressed the main button then handed the controller to Shelby.
"You want me to play with you?" Shelby asked shyly. "Okay but I don't know how to play."
"That's the fun part, learning as you go," Ashley smiled and pressed 2 Player.

"Oh M.A.G.I.C. Blade, it's an acronym... still what a weird thing to call a Sci-fi game, people would think it was fantasy."
