Josh blinked for a moment as he tried to clear out the tiny flashes of lights that now followed his gaze where ever it went. As he rubbed his eyes, Josh could hear cars passing behind him, parents telling their kids to hurry up and get inside, and several dogs barking in the distance. "What is going on?" He said to himself as he looked at his hands to see that his normally bitten nails were now well manicured and had a hint of a light pink polish on them. As he moved his hands around, Josh heard the tiny clinging of the metal bracelets that he now wore. "What the hell?" Looking down, Josh could see that what he wore just moments earlier, a long sleeve shirt with a pair of jeans, were now replaced with a light pink cardigan sweater, a short sleeve shirt underneath, a pair of skinny jeans. "This is what Courtney wore this morning." He remembered as he heard the door opening up.
"Oh hey there Courtney." Mrs. Marshall replied as she held open the door for him to enter. "Kira said that you were going to come over, but honestly I wasn't expecting you over so soon." She smiled as Josh made his way through the open door, but as he passed by Mrs. Marshall, he couldn't help but noticing that he had to look up slightly to her. "Kira's up in her room and I think your brother is here too, but will you check to see if Jenn's door is open for me while you're on your way over there?"
'When did she become taller than me?' Josh thought to himself. "Uhh... I think I can do that for you. Thanks Mrs. M." Josh causally replied a smile as he made his way inside. With each step that he took, he could feel his hair swaying and the heaviness of his backpack tugging slightly on his shoulders. Quickly making his way up the stairs to confront Jenn and see if Courtney was there in his place. As he made his way to the top of the stairs, Josh quickly looked over into Jenn's room to see that the door was open and Jenn was trying to console Courtney, who looked odd wearing his clothes and having his shorter hair.
"Jenn, you can't be serious." Courtney grumbled as she started to get up off of the bed only to see her brother at the doorway. "Josh." She announced as she made her way over to him and couldn't help but marvel at how much taller she was compared to him. "Wow. I can't believe I'm so short."
Looking back over at the bed, Josh could see that Jenn was starting to look through the book once more. "Jenn, I think you swapped Courtney and me." Josh sighed as he hopped up on the bed next to her, something that he hadn't needed to do for several years.
Groaning slightly, almost as if she'd already heard that statement before, Jenn looked over at Josh. "I know... I know..." She glanced back over at Courtney who was still standing by the door, but with her hip cocked to the side and her arms crossed. "She already told me several times over. I need to read more about it before I mess something up." Looking over at Courtney who was now looking towards the mirror and making various faces. "What are you doing?" She asked, trying her best to not to laugh.
Turning away from the mirror, Courtney blushed slightly as she looked over at her big brother sitting over on the bed looking at her with an inquisitive look. "Its just that when I look into the mirror." She cocked her head to the left towards the mirror that was on the wall. "I see Joshie's reflection instead of my own."
"Don't call me Joshie... Wait what?" Josh groaned, but stopped for a moment and shot up off of the bed making his way over to the mirror that Courtney was looking in just moments before. Looking into the mirror, he could feel his jaw drop as he saw the reflection of his little sister staring back at him. The strawberry-blonde hair was secured behind her purple headband earmuff. Bringing his hand up to his head, the reflection matched his movements as he felt the hair on his head. "Jenn you really need to fix this now." He demanded as he put his hands on his hips, something that Courtney would do when she wanted to get her point across.
Glancing up from her book, Jenn looked over at her boyfriend. "I know, but I think you're going to need to give me some time to make sure that I don't mess anything up."
"Courtney, what are you doing in here?" Kira asked. She had been looking for her friend after hearing from her mom that she'd arrived. "Come on, we don't want to watch them make out." Kira grabbed Josh's arm to pull him out and he was surprised that she was able to do it easily.
