Chapter 2:
Under the cloak of dusk, the quartet convened at the ancient oak on the outskirts of the campus, a spot Luna had insisted held magical properties. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and anticipation as they formed a circle.
Luna stepped into the center, an old leather-bound tome in hand. "This spell," she began in a low voice, "will make Ethan reveal his true, beastly nature to the world."
The girls exchanged nervous glances but nodded, their desire for retribution outweighing their skepticism. Luna directed them to join hands, and they did so, forming an unbroken chain around the gnarled tree.
She began reciting words in an arcane tongue, instructing the others to repeat after her. The strange syllables twisted in the air, and a gust of wind rustled the leaves above.
"Repeat after me," Luna commanded, her eyes glinting in the twilight. "Scales of deceit, hear our plea," she chanted, and the girls echoed.
"Scales of deceit, hear our plea," they affirmed, their voices rising in power.
"Hearts betrayed, now set us free," Luna continued, the air around them beginning to shimmer with unseen energy.
"Hearts betrayed, now set us free," they chanted in unison, the words resonating with their collective hurt.
"With this call, let truth be shown, when the bell tolls, let him be known," Luna's voice crescendoed, the atmosphere crackling with the force of their will.
"With this call, let truth be shown, when the bell tolls, let him be known," they repeated, their voices fierce and determined.
Luna closed her eyes, and with a final, powerful declaration, she exclaimed, "By the power of this ancient tree, as we will it, so mote it be!"
"As we will it, so mote it be!" they shouted together, releasing their hands as a surge of energy pulsed through the circle, the ground briefly glowing with a spectral light.
The wind howled, the old oak shuddered, and the world seemed to hold its breath. Then, as quickly as it had begun, the sensation faded, leaving them in the quiet night, the only evidence of their work a sense of shared empowerment.
The girls stood in silence, feeling the weight of what they had done. Luna smiled faintly, her confidence unwavering. "Now, we wait," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "The next time a teacher calls upon Ethan, his true form will reveal itself."
And with that, the spell was cast.
