This choice: Marcus, a 21-year old aspiring actor. • Go Back...Chapter #3Marcus, a 21-year old aspiring actor. by: Jos Marcus walked away from his audition exhausted from the days events. Another day in the life of striving towards his dream of being an actor. He had been in large city for 6 months. A huge shift from his time back in his small town. But regardless, it had been a great adventure. Yet, his frustration was mounting
"Aw, crap. I need to still pick up some groceries". Marcus begrudgingly walked himself over the grocery store. Yet his eyes fell on an old souvenier shop. One that he had gone by many times before. He had been working all day. A good detour wouldn't hurt him.
Marcus entered the shop and enjoyed the warm air and incense coming into his nostrils. He saw an old man welcoming him with his hand holding a large cigar, "Come in! See what you enjoy!"
Marcus nodded and walked throughout the shop. He loved ancient art and sculpture work. As he explored the shop, he came across a statue in the corner. A unique statue to say the least. He saw an elephant-headed god with a human body, four arms, and a pot belly that would make his Uncle Richard jealous. Something drew Marcus to it. Using his phone, Marcus explored what this status was.
"Huh....Ganesha". Marcus never knew of this Hindu deity. But a God that removed obstacles would surely be up his alley. As a young 21 year old, he had many obstacles in his own life. Marcus approached the statue. Little did he know, the owner peered over his desk and smiled knowingly, "Well Ganesha, you may finally get your wish". The old man puffed his cigar and waited to see what happened.
Marcus approached the statue. He placed his hand on the God's belly. He felt a warmth come over him. A warmth that was welcoming.
Hello my boy. Do not be afraid. It is I Ganesha that speaks!
It's voice was soft, but powerful
The elephant statue eye's grew a warm gold color. Marcus nearly jumped from his skin. The status was talking to him!
What do you want? Marcus said with his mind.
Marcus felt the warmth wrap around his body. He didn't mind it. In fact, he started to enjoy it more.
I know you are struggling. I would like to be a remover of obstacles for you. But in exchange, I would like you to be my emissary to help others. In other words, to unite with me. In return, I will help you. But you will be bound to me. Human and deity together. You will sometimes be required to help others or switch bodies with me as needed.
Marcus was shocked at the entire scenario
Why not do it yourself? Why not simply be the divine God you are and leave the statue?
The eyes grew warmer
It is a long story that would take too long to explain. Let me say that I was trapped into this statue after a long conflict with the other deities of the Hindu tradition as humans would say. I had been waiting for over 400 years to finally be free. I have not been able to help humans as much as I could given my imprisoned state. But you can change that.
Marcus started to relax and sympathize with the God. He was imprisoned as well, but still free. Ganesha was literally trapped in a statue. Marcus looked at the statue
So, you would help me become a great actor if I accept your conditions?
That and much more. For I see in you a great deal that needs healing. Ganesha's eye great softer and warmer.
Marcus was rather shocked, but open to the idea
Well, how would this work then for me to accept? Do I sign something
Marcus head a louder chuckle of amusement
It's rather simple. But I must warn you, the transformation of embracing me may make you larger and older. Are you willing to let go of your 21 year old self and take that risk?
Marcus wasn't sure. He liked his looks. But he felt trapped. Even if he had all the youth, looks, and wealth in the world, he felt trapped by the limitations of his home life and in the city. He needed something richer.
It's certainly a risk Ganesha. But if you are trustworthy, I assume you'll still make me look good regardless
Ganesha's eyes glowed even brighter with his chuckle. Marcus could have sworn he saw a smile on the elephant
You are quite perceptive! If you are fine with these conditions, then place your hands on my belly to begin the process
Marcus was slightly hesitant. Was he crazy? Was he sleeping? No, this was real. The opportunity was before him. His old man, who was religious, would have told him to leap at the elephant and then some. Embracing all of the adventure together. Marcus knew this God was ready for adventure. He was too.
Marcus walked over and, without hesitation. Placed both hands on the God's belly
Your turn Ganesha!
