Derek knew that walking off to the side would be a wise decision. At his size, any students or faculty walking around in the cafeteria likely wouldn't notice him if they were either focused on their meal or their duty to supervise. An additional danger that Derek did not account for was any other classes that were arriving in the cafeteria for lunch. This threat became apparent to Derek before he had moved out of the way.
A sudden rush of footsteps crashed behind Derek. He turned around and saw a wave of elementary students heading his way. Panicking, the little assistant turned to book it towards the side of the room. However, the students vastly outran him and arrived in the cafeteria far before Derek even got close to safety. Now in the midst of the thunderous storm of kids, Derek did his best to maneuver himself around incoming feet. He made a valiant effort and managed to dodge a great number of students, but it wasn't feet that ended up being the problem. It was a hand. While Derek was preoccupied with keeping himself out of the way of larger students, one of the kids grabbed him. "Look at you!" she exclaimed. "It's a live doll! Cool!" Just then, at the degrading of Derek from a person to a toy, he shrunk. "Whoa! He gets smaller too! Unbelievable!" The girl, a much smaller student from her peers at around 4'4, slammed Derek into her chest, hugging him with all her might. The little assistant tried to make it clear that he wasn't a toy, rather, he was a person, but that was awfully difficult while being smothered. After concluding her hug, the girl went up to her teacher. "Mrs. Benson! Can I go get some glue? I need to repair my toy!" She kept Derek out of sight from the teacher by stashing him inside her shorts' pocket. The middle-aged teacher smiled. "Sure, but let's hurry. We don't want you missing much lunch time." The little girl squealed in excitement and went back to her classroom with the teacher. Once she got what she needed, the elementary student was escorted back to the cafeteria.
"Guys, check it out!" the little brunette spoke to her friends. She pulled Derek out of her pocket and raised him in the air. He wanted to complain and make clear about his situation, but the girl held her fingers over his mouth. "Whoa! Cool!" many of them said. "What are you going to do with him?" The brunette shrugged. "I don't know, I thought he was just a doll. But he gets smaller! And he moves!" After the doll comment, Derek shrunk again. He was now only an inch tall. "See? He's so amazing!" The girl lowered Derek and looked at him with a crazed expression. "I'm Lola, it's nice to meet you! Now, um, I need to eat. Also, I have recess then class after this so I can't play with you. I need to put you somewhere safe." A grin spread across Lola's face. With her other hand, she pulled out the glue she had asked to get from the classroom. Derek once again tried to tell her that he wasn't a doll, but it wasn't any use with her hand still over his mouth. The girl put glue all the way up his chest, but avoided his face. With the same excited expression, Lola raised her arm, revealing a peachy and slightly slick armpit. "Here! I can keep you here until I go home. Trust me, you won't go anywhere with that glue," she giggled. Derek squirmed in the girl's hand as she pulled him in. "No please!" he thought.

Lola stuck Derek face first against her armpit then lowered her arm. She thought he tickled there, but didn't mind it. Derek, on the other hand, did mind. The sweaty, smelly location was not his top pick to be kept. Granted, it wasn't quite as bed as experiences he had in the past, but ideally he wouldn't like to be kept in the girl's armpit. Especially when she had recess shortly coming up. However, Lola didn't care and went back to what she was doing. Derek knew that he would be in some trouble if something didn't change soon. He was hoping that a staff member would notice his absence and come to his rescue. Nothing was for certain, though.
What happens next for Derek?
