Chapter #4
Khar'rith's True Agenda
by: Unknown
Khar'rith trotted down the alley. Hoping the rain would muffle the sounds of his hooves, he hurried on. He had some magic that would keep casual onlookers from noticing him. If they didn't expect to see him -- and humans never expected a faelan in their midst -- it was easy to use his illusionary skills to mask his presense. However, the magic could not hide any noises he made. So Khar'rith only moved as quickly as he thought he could, while still remaining relatively quiet.
As he passed through one alley and into the next, he wondered how the humans could live with their own stench. It filled his nostrils, almost choking him. He looked forward to watching all the humans die, even the great Cardac.
Oh, Cardac thought he was clever, enlisting the aid of Khar'rith's master. Cardac wanted to destroy this city. Fine, the city would perish. Then, when those humans were slaughtered and there was no one who might come to their aid, it would be Cardac's turn. If Khar'rith was lucky, perhaps he could kill Cardac. After all, the Dragon rewarded his faithful servants.
With those pleasant thoughts in his head, Khar'rith continued on. Then he realized something that caused him to slow his pace.
