Dad sits on the couch next to you and smiles and says," Well you're all set up son, you start working tomorrow at 9am at King Henry's Royal Buffet."
"Wicked," you smile. King Henry's Royal Buffet is your family's favorite place to eat and your dad is a preferred customer since he takes all of his business partners there and has meetings there and loves to show off how much he can eat.
"Yep," Dad says," you'll be a waiter with some kitchen skills."
"Neat," you smile looking at your dad," What do I wear to work?"
"Kim says just a shirt and shorts," answers dad with a smile, he knows you're a bit nervous, but your he has the power to calm you down.
"So Kim is my new boss?" you ask.
"Yep," Dad answers," she'll make you feel right at home. After all her Dad is making it a franchise and is across country."
"Sounds fun," you smile.
The rest of the night goes slowly. Supper was good and the rest of the night you drift from the computer to the TV to wrestling with your brother through the battle you discouver that Mike's playing in a local league for the summer, following your dad's foot steps.
The next morning you wake up and brush your teeth in the bathroom with your dad and have a bowl of cereal and you're off to downtown.
You stop at King Henry's Royal Buffet and you and Dad heads in and walk up to the counter and your Dad asks the chubby teen at the counter for Kim. The teen walks to the back room and returns and says it'll be a second.
A few seconds later out walks a tall blond hair in a pony tail woman, who must be in her mid 20s with a nice smile and says," Oh hello Mr. (insert your last name here)!"
"Please," Dad says," call me Rob."
"Will do Rob," Kim smiles," welcome back (insert your name here), ready to work?"
"I guess," you say a bit nervous.
"Don't worry," Kim smiles," we don't bite, humans that is."
Dad laughs at the bad joke.
"So come around and we'll get you suited up and teach you the ropes," Kim says and you walk around the counter.
"Well gotta go to work myself," Dad says," I'll see you later, good to walk home (insert your name here)?"
"I will," you answer," see ya Dad."
Dad leaves and you follow Kim into the kitchen area and she says," Welcome to the heart of the restaurant. Here we can cook almost anything, wedding cakes, bread, ice cream, almost anything."
"Cool," you say looking at all of the stuff.
"We can have 6 people working on different items in here at a time," smiles Kim," you'll learn how to do some cooking and some washing of dishes, but that only happens when your Dad brings his gang in."
Your dad has a gang of big pals like the size of Mike and they enjoy coming here once a month or so to catch up.
Kim opens a door and you walk in to see a rather chubby guy with a welcoming smile," This is Tom, he's our main cook."
Tom gives you his hand and you shake the large hand and he says," Welcome aboard."
"Thanks," you smile.
"And here's you shirt," Kim says picking up the dark blue shirt with the King Henry's logo," Take that door there to change into it then we'll teach you the lingo."
You go into the bathroom to see that the toilet is rather large and is higher then most toilets, which is good, because you hate short toilets.
You get changed and head back out where you learn the lingo for the special, and other food words and you learn the setting arrangement and you learn you get free meals here and snacks.
Your set out and you ask what the people want for orders and you also restack the trays of food and give your critique of what Tom and the other chiefs make. Over the 2 weeks you have a great time and the customers really like you around.
By the end of the two weeks you get a day off and you go to put your jeans on because it's a rainy day, ’What timing rainy day on your day off,’ and you see that you've gained 10 pounds working at King Henry's already.
The next day you go back to work and at the end of the shift Kim comes walking up to you and hands you over the Cheque.
You thank her then she says," Well the trail run is done and so far you're a great waiter, but your dad says you might want to only work 2 weeks, so would you like to continue working here?"
Well? You can afford the Wishing Powder now, or should you get both the Wishing Powder and keep the job?
