Alan's froze in place, his jaw dropping open, as he watched his 16-year-old brother bound through the door and into his room.
"Hey, Alan!" Mike shouted. "You around?"
Two-inch-tall Alan had trouble believing his own eyes. Mike looked like some mega-colossal being.
With such a narrow age difference between the brothers, there had always been rivalry. A rivalry made worse as they entered their teens and Mike, who developed early, soon became larger and more muscular than his older brother.
But this — this was ridiculous, Alan though to himself. His brother was a titanic creature capable of—
"Oh my God!"
Alan dived out of the way only an instant before his brother's huge New Balance sneaker hurtled to the floor.
"He could have crushed me!" Alan shrieked in a weak, tiny voice.
Mike chuckled. "Well, if big bro's away, I can just use his computer for awhile."
Alan watched as Mike settled in at his desk and logged onto his computer.
"Damn!" Alan grumbled. He had given strict orders for Mike to stay out of his room and to respect his personal property.
The tiny man decided to get his brother's attention. "I'll just use the book to reverse this spell and catch him red-handed on my computer. Now, where's the book?"
Suddenly, a flashback unfolded in his brain. He even thought he heard that awful thud again — the thud as the book had slid between his bed and the wall.
"Oh my God!" Alan cried. "How do I get to the book?"
