Ash continued along Route 1 toward Viridian City, happily letting his belly jiggle to and fro with each step. At some point, a group of Spearow had attempted to pick a fight with the boy and his new Pokemon, but he managed to scare them off; as it turned out, seeing their Fearow leader devoured before their eyes was quite a blow to the flock's morale. With that over with, the pair continued on toward their destination, without a care in the world, until Ash felt something bump against his gut.
"Oof! Who's there?" he said, looking around for whatever had hit him. "Um, down here, sir," was the reply he got, prompting him to labouriously bend over toward the source of the voice. There, he saw what appeared to be a young boy, much younger than himself, wearing an odd black-and-yellow outfit and a matching floppy hat. It covered just about every inch of him, so all Ash could see was his confused face and a shock of blond hair poking out from beneath his hat. "I, ah, didn't mean to bump into you, Mr.; sorry..."
"Aw, no need to apologise," replied Ash, smiling. "Oh, and it's not 'Mister'; my name's Ash Ketchum, from Pallet Town! What's yours?"
"Oh? Um, I'm Yellow, from...Viridian City, I guess. Nice to meet you, 'Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town'..." The chubby boy could not help but chuckle at his new acquaintance's overly-formal manner, putting one hand on his shoulder and saying, "Ah, you're a funny one, you are...how about we head into town together? Pikachu and I have just started out as Trainers, and the last few hours have been kinda lonely." Yellow agreed, following as Ash waddled toward the city with Pikachu in tow.
As they continued on their way, a curious Ash asked of his new friend, "So, what brings a little guy like you to a place like this?" Yellow was about to answer, but abruptly stopped, wracked by terrible premonitions. For you see, Yellow was actually a girl (albeit a rather misleadingly dressed one), and she was about to correct her portly companion about this fact...but, in addition to being female, Yellow was also a highly perceptive kind of person, capable of picking up on the emotions and thoughts of people and Pokemon. Right now, her senses were telling, no, screaming at her that informing Ash of her true gender would be nothing but trouble. He gave off a suspicious, almost predatory aura...for now, she thought, she would play along, in order to stay safe.
"Oh, uh, me? Well, I, er...was just looking for new Pokemon, I guess!" Ash nodded, convinced, before changing the topic and pointing ahead. "Oh, hey, we made it to the city! Let's head in, hm? I'm feeling pretty hungry after that long walk, hehe..." Yellow could only gulp nervously as Ash scouted up and down for tasty females...
