The boat seems seaworthy. The current in the river is not very fast.
The word "kayak" pops into your head and you remember other rivers and other journeys, but the memories quickly fade leaving nothing but the mysterious word "kayak" in your mind. You decide to name this boat Kayak. Something deep inside you says that you must name your boat to insure a safe journey. You have no idea why you believe that.
You get into Kayak and untie her. The current pulls you downstream.
You are thirsty and drink some of the river water. It tastes clean and fresh. If you only had something to eat. Occasionally you see a fish swimming in the clear river, but how to catch it?
You pull Kayak up onto a sandbar and stretch your legs. You have no idea where the river will carry you, but you feel good, except for the hunger. The sun shines bright and the canyon is cool and interesting to look at.
You notice black objects like pebbles along the edge of the sandbar in the shallow water, but when you pick one up to examine it, you see that it is a small animal with a shell. You smash the shell against a rock and taste the contents. Not bad. You eat a number of the little shellfish until you are no longer hungry.
You judge it will be dark soon. Maybe you should spend the night here on this sandbar where food is abundant.
