After a few hours walk, you are close enough to the castle to see the entrance. The dirt road leads up to a huge door set solidly in the wall. The door is made of wood reinforced with iron and it is closed.
You hear the noise of a wagon coming down the dirt road behind you. It is just out of site behind the curve of a hill. You jump off the road and hide in the weeds. As the wagon comes by, you see that it is pulled by a strange beast with striped fur and big hooves. The driver is not human.
Your heart skips a beat. Good thing you hid in the weeds. This thing driving the wagon looks very mean. Although it is shaped like a man, it's skin is reptilian with a black and white pattern of swirls and spots. It wears no clothes except for a leather belt that has pouches attached to it.
It's head is quite strange. It has a short snout and a pink tongue that flicks in and out. It's eyes are very near the sides of it's head, but swivel so that it can look straight ahead. It's hands have fingers that are extremely long. It's feet have toes with claws.
The wagon heads up to the castle and stops. The lizard-like creature makes a loud whistling sound. Behind the walls chains rattle and the huge door slowly opens. The wagon goes in and the door is closed.
You sit in the weeds and think. If these lizard creatures are in control of the castle, then you can't just run in and save the girl. You will have to be stealthy and clever.
You think of various ways to get inside. It finally comes down to two possible courses of action.
