Chapter #4

Taking Charge

    by: me_duh Author IconMail Icon
After a half hour of searching unsuccessfully, Isabelle realized that she wouldn't be able to wander the entire castle by herself looking, so she began asking the servants. She asked eveyone if they knew where her parents were and when they didn't know she asked them to help her search. Within an hour the entire staff was searching for the King and Queen.

"Have you found them yet?" Isabelle inquired of a couple of servants.

"Sorry your Highness, but we still do not know where your parents are," they bowed their heads in remorse.

After several hours, it was concluded that the King and Queen were gone, and that no one knew where they were.

Princess Isabelle was quite perturbed. She was sitting on her parents' bed wondering what had happened to her parents. They weren't on any diplomatic missions or any pleasure trips. And what was she to do if they never returned? Isabelle wasn't ready to be Queen and she knew it.

Luckily her thoughts were interupted by a servant entering her parents' bed chamber. "Pardon the intrusion your Highness."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Madame, we have found no sign of what fate has befallen the King and Queen. What is it that you would like us to do next?"

What was she supposed to say - Isabelle wasn't ready to give out such orders. She never paid attention to what her parents did when they were working. "Well, I suppose...I mean, summon my father's advisors immediately. Have them meet me in my father's conference room, there is much to discuss.... You are dimissed."

He bowed and left. Well, that didn't go too badly. Isabelle was going to have to get used to all this. Until her parents' return she would have to be in charge.
