The usual stone gargoyal who stood guard at Dumbledore's office looked up as the young familiar Potter and a snake arrived.
"Albus Dumbledore is not at Hogwarts; he is in an important meeting at the Ministry of Magic" The stone beast growled with a heavy gritty undertone in his throat.
The snake looked up at the gargoyal, wishing that he still had his wand so he could-
"Thanks" Harry said, his disheartened tone obvious.
"Well... What now, Genius?" Snape hissed, rearing up slightly at the boy who'd caused this mess in the first place.
"I dont know!" The Gryffindor frowned, sitting corss legged on the stone floor by the snake. Hand holding his chin, he thought furiously, frowning at the floor.
"Well?" Snape asked, his new found language somewhat irritating him already.
"Shut up, I'm trying to think.."
"Not doing such a good job, are you Potter?"
"Just be thankful you're not a ferret!" The boy snapped, poking at the body of the python..
"I do have fangs you know" Snape grumbled. A bell rang, and the next thing they knew, students were flocking from all corridors:
To avoid being stood on, Snape slithered up Harry's arm and hung from his shoulders with a grim expression on his reptillian face.
"I've got it!"
