Cal is not really sure how he could have missed Paul on your first scan of the boys in the hall. He's fairly big; most of the fat on his body is somehow concentrated in his belly, which is very round and rather entrancing. As they shake hands, Cal notices Paul is looking at Cal's beginner belly. Cal's embarassment overwhelms the excitement he barely notices he's feeling.
"C-Cal."
"Where are you from, Cal?"
"Ohio."
"Really. I'm from upstate New York, around Buffalo, but I did live for a couple years in Akron with my uncle."
Something about Paul seems to put Cal at ease. They talk and share stories. Before Cal knows it, they're sitting on the couch close together and Paul suggests they watch a movie in his room, down the hall. Cal agrees. When they get to Paul's room, Cal notices two things right away. First, Paul has no roommate. He has the same, double size room as Cal, but there is no second person. Second, using the space where a roommate would be, the room is decked out with a college boy's dream. Paul has his own fridge, a large futon couch facing a huge widescreen TV with two minifridges, one next to the bed and one next to the couch. Where his roommate's desk would be, there is a microwave and cabinet full of snacks.
"Um... Wow."
"Oh, er, yeah." Paul actually seems a little embarassed. "My parents are kinda, well..."
"Loaded?"
"Pretty much."
