Matt made the split-second decision to race toward the cavern-sized crevice at the base of the wall. Strangely enough, he thought, he had never noticed the hole during his long hours in his lab conducting his research.
Now that he had shrunk to a size of one inch tall, the tiny teen noticed a lot of the little details that he would have overlooked otherwise.
The crevice led into a spacious but dimly lit space in the wall. Matt lingered near the entrance to keep an eye on Buttons. He saw the huge cat pause to sniff at Matt’s discarded sneaker.
Matt moved deeper into the crevice. He shivered from the cold and decided to look for something to wear.
That didn’t prove a simple task for the inch-high teen. His best efforts at scavenging among assorted debris yielded some scraps of paper and a gum wrapper. He fashioned a makeshift loincloth from the foil-sided wrapper. He looked ridiculous, but at least he didn’t have to scrounge around au natural.
Matt decided to peek out again. He saw no sign of the enormous cat.
