Inside the building, the day was going on like any other day, middle of the week mundane routines. Students all ready sick of their studies and looking forward to what they would do once it was let out. Many could be found yawning and looking on bored as they were barely into their first period classes when a bright flash overtook the building. Blinding everyone inside, it was as if the sun itself had decided to say hello just outside each window. Many students screamed out in shock, falling from their desks or sliding their books to the side in a panic. The luckier ones didn't react at all due to simply sleeping through this. Though the general question on everyone's mind was a simple one as the flash would end and their vision would return. "What was that?"
Confused, and looking over their equally baffled students, the teachers of the classrooms would do their best to quiet everyone down. Trying to continue the day as if it never happened. Though would be until the first of the tremors hit. A loud thud followed by the earth itself seeming to shift, It would be impossible for the students to remain in their seats as most were tossed to the ground. The panic returning in full effect as even the Teacher's began to question what was going on. Of course another tremor would shake the building followed by another shortly after. They rhythmic in fashion always seeming to hit about the same time apart. Though each would grow more and more intense. The classrooms on the North side of the building would have the most bearing on what was happening.
Although each window which was flocked too as a result, each and every person fighting to see if the view to the outside world could given them a hint to what was happening. Each view similar as they would all just see an endless expanse of brown in each direction. The souls of the North side of the building would at least be treated to a whole other view as the last of the tremors hit. The source becoming visible as a large black wall would seemingly crash down. Nearly tearing the building apart in just the sheer scale of the quakes it caused. Many windows shattered and ever a few of the floors gave out. Though who would remain in tact simply looked out trying to get any information on what was happening.
Into the distance, some ways down the "black wall" it could be made out, something written on it, something in white. It would take many of them to look intently, trying to study it, all eventually coming to the conclusion as they talked amongst themselves that it was lettering, human lettering. They would see that what it said however made no sense, just the two letters "DC" on the side, the letters intertwined. "T-The Shoe?" A young woman in one of the classes on the top floor would mutter to herself and her particular classroom. Many wouldn't be able to comprehend it, the idea but slowly it would begin to sink in. If that was a shoe, then the one wearing it would be enormous, bigger than any man made structures and they.....they were nothing. This building, if this "wall" which would simply be the side of the shoe, was any indication. The toe end of it could demolish their building three times over.
=============
"Where in the fuck?!" Trish would shout as she looked over the open expanse which was the dirt that the school used to occupy. It was impossible for her to believe that such a large building which housed that many students could just disappear. She would explore the dirt, looking for any clue that she could to what may of happened. Though it seemed to be a fruitless venture as she would come to a stop near the center point of the brown patch. Her shoe coming to rest near something that hadn't quite caught her attention yet. What did on the other hand was the gun she held in her grasp, the one she had taken off May. Quickly, she would look it over and immediately scoff at what she saw.
This gun was so cartoony, such a kid's toy. Even complete with the dials and switches. She almost couldn't be bothered to look on further. Though she would, and her eye's would harden a bit as she read the labels "Grow" and "Shrink" on it. She would laugh a bit in disbelief at how absurd it was, though....looking at the dirt patch, was it really? Shaking her head a bit, this left her with an option. May who was beginning to come too on the sidewalk was catching her attention once more, and she would get some damned answers! indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
