Bryan pressed his diminutive form against the rough baseboard and sighed. His situation was dire and his options appeared to be worse. Cross the restaurant directly or play it safe(er) and keep against the wall.
He snapped from his thoughts when the ground began to shudder. Relatively many hundreds of feet away, but still too close for comfort, loomed an enormous customer. Bryan felt his blood pressure increase once more, his body pushing harder against the huge baseboard behind him. Huge black Adidas sneakers crashed upon the tiled floor with concussive blasts before lifting for another step. Bryan noted how each monumental movement caused his tiny bones to jolt.
Wide eyed, he watched the huge young man approach one of the bar stools. His cosmic attention never turning to the floor as he seated his enormous bulk and proceeded to order.
"He is so damn huge!" Bryan needed Tommy's help, sooner than later, but running out into the open floor simply seemed suicidal.
If he wanted to survive long enough to be rescued, he had to play smart. The door jingled far off, signaling more customer's entry. Bryan decided that sticking to the walls was the safest way to reach Tommy. He eyeballed where the route would take him: past at least half a dozen booths and ultimately past the glass entry door.
He suddenly realized a downside to this rather safe plan. At his small size, such a journey would realistically take an hour, likely more. Tommy would be well and finished with his meal by then and have left long before Bryan even approached his booth.
"Shit!" Bryan found himself thoughtlessly sprinting alongside the towering baseboard. Pausing for thought would only ensure his failure. He had to move quickly!
Corby thundered by, his powerful steps almost tripping the tiny man. The massive black sneakers covered large distances, bringing the gigantic waiter to his destination. He greeted and began conversing with the giant wearing the black Adidas; the two of them interacting like buddies.
Bryan bit his lip. Corby was a smart kid, and would likely be more than willing to offer help to the shrunken man, if only he would notice him. Bryan couldn't afford to even risk a closer encounter with the humongous waiter. Tommy was definitely the safer option.
A trio of customers raised from their seats and proceeded towards the exit with pounding steps. This subtraction made Bryan feel slightly safer until moments later the door swung open again. And just to spite the bug-sized man, the new-comers approached one of the empty booths in his path.
"No, not there! Go away!" He allowed himself to wave his arms uselessly against the gigantic duo. They remained unaware of his lint-sized protests, and proceeded to seat themselves.
