Ryan saw his gigantic student open the lid on a small plastic cube. The lid was inter-spaced with thin plastic strips that allowed for decent air flow while still maintaining the captivity of any specimens held inside the cube.
If he got put into the collection cage, there was no way he would be able to free himself. He prepared himself as the boys proceeded with the transfer.
Jeremy reached into the net to pluck the interesting bug free of the mesh. Ryan surprised even himself when he managed to squirm free of the boy's dirty fingers and make a swift flight into the air.
"He's getting away," Nathan yelled.
Jeremy made another wild swing with the net, trying to recapture their prize specimen. Prepared this time, Ryan used his new wings to fly high out of reach.
He had gotten free, but now he was faced with a new dilemma.
The boys, who were his own students after all, represented a possible means for help with his mind-boggling problem of transformation into this strange bug.
But, as long as they remained intent on putting him inside a cage, he would have to avoid them.
Perhaps he should fly back to the school and seek help from the teachers and staff. or he could locate some of his other students participating in the field trip.
A twitch of his new wings sent him speeding over the tops of tall trees as he looked for…
