"Isn't it cool?" Tom asked his younger brother, showing off the glowing portal he had found. "Now, come on. I want to see what's on the other side." He grabbed Jack's arm and began dragging him towards the hole.

"Wait!" Jack protested, freeing his arm from Tom's grip. "Wait a minute. I'm scared! We don't even know what's on the other side."

"But that's part of the fun, isn't it?" Tom replied, grinning down at his brother.

"Wouldn't you like to watch TV instead?"

Tom sighed in frustration. "Oh, don't worry. Everything will be fine." He grabbed his brother's arm once more and stopped in front of the vortex. "After you," he said to Jack rather politely, before simply picking him up and tossing him into the vortex. He heard Jack's screams echo as he travelled through the hole.

Tom smiled, anticipating what he would find on the other side. He looked back once more at his house. He could hear his parents laughing at the program on TV. Without hesitation, he jumped into the portal, bidding farewell to this boring life.

A few moments later, he landed on the ground a few feet from Jack. Both brothers stood up, looking around.

"Where are we?" Jack asked, a little scared.

"I don't know," Tom replied. "But we're about to find out. Come on." He took his brother's hand and started walking, wondering what kind of a place this was, himself. Right now, they appeared to be in a forest of some kind, but a little ways in front of them, Tom could see a group of houses, every light in the area turned on. The people living there were having a celebration of some kind. Both boys could hear music and cheering up ahead.

"I don't like this," Jack said, with fear in his voice.

"Oh, will you just relax," Tom said, getting fed up with his brother's cowardice. "Everything will be fine. I promise."

Tom and Jack made it to a roadway and observed the various people walking down the street.

"Where are we, Tom?" Jack asked.

"I don't know," Tom replied, regretting going through the portal in his backyard a little, upon seeing the inhabitants that lived on the other side. "I just don't know."
