The author recommends that the reader/reviewer study the premise to learn the intention of the story. I found accordingly that the premise is very effective in presenting this, and I was immediately captivated by the suspense hook. Without alerting future readers to the "secrets" purposed in the story, I can say that by the second sentence I had already found two intense hooks which captured my attention, and I was immediately impelled to read further!
If this wouldn't be sufficient to make the reader continue, the author throws out character involvement in the second paragraph with a "why" type event that immediately makes one want to know the backdrop! I give the author kudos for mastering at once the ability to garner the reader in, and then to hook her for the full length of the story. Escalation of suspense is already indicated and I am ready to "Read On!"
