Hello again, Tina!
This is another of your real-life, comical experiences you're sharing, and I envy you for doing it. Not a lot folks would do that, but I'm glad to see you're showing us examples of what to expect (and do/not do) should anyone ever find themselves in similar situation.
I'm glad to see that these cheapskates got their comeuppance, and you did a fine job of telling this. I'm a little surprised you and your friend didn't end the date after the movies! But then again, if you had, you likely wouldn't have gotten your $$$ back at all!
Excellent spelling and grammar, but I did spot a few niggles (this is where you'll see me for the spelling and grammar Nazi that I am, and you'll tell me to never review one of your pieces again!):
'She dang new blew my eardrum' (near?)
'a few miles out fo town were country bumpkins' (of, where)
'I assured them(,) I was just going to add some water' (don't need that comma)
Otherwise, bravo!
