I love the start of this story. In just a few paragraphs, you have given us a vivid background for the story; time, place, and people were all covered.

You have given your main Character, Monique, a personality and an ability we would want to know more about. You have given several examples of the ability, so we know it is an accepted happening by Monique.

Besides the question I have below I am wondering if, capitalizing the whole word "LORD" is an accepted way of writing it. I know the first letter is always capitalized but not sure if the complete word should be.

***Suddenly the graffiti became Bible scripture, etched onto the planks. Monique still could not read what the scriptures said as hard as she looked. (If she can not read what is written how does she know they are Bible scriptures?)
