That is one holy terror of a kid. Brat doesn't even begin to describe him, but when it comes to a description of Derrick you did a great job. But you didn't just describe him, telling us he was a brat. You showed us the oh-so-many ways that this kid was a brat. I feel for the cat. In this case, I think it was the black cat that was unlucky.

I don't have kids and fortunately, my nieces and nephews live far enough away that I have never had the "fun" of helping watch over a birthday party. Though if I ever made the mistake of joining them for a birthday party I know it would be bad. My sister has six kids of her own, that is before you start adding in any guests. I also would have nowhere to escape to because I would probably be staying with them in their house.

I would still offer you the advice that you gave Derrick, at least you have family that can provide you with these experiences not everyone does.
