I believe making sense of historical records is like reading every other word in a story. There's a lot of fill in the blanks.Most older documents are hand written, and reading cursive is becoming a lost art. Take into account that many documents are faded with age, stored improperly or otherwise damaged through misuse, and finding accurate and finite substantiation for past events is definitely conditional. As for your efforts to explain the curious situation of Gilmore Justice, I wonder if there are more facts to present. You list several instances of his life related to his military service. As a reader I find some great injustice (uh, no pun intended) with how Gilmore was treated. I suspect there was great turmoil in Kentucky at the time ... obviously. It seems he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would think recruitment in border state was problematic during the Civil War. Your disclaimer states what Gilmore Justice might have said and felt in his heart. I felt like he states a lot of facts but never really said how he felt about his treatment at the hands of both sides.  Editorial Thoughts.  I felt like your account was halted abruptly, like it was incomplete. What happened to Gilmore after being sent to the Union prison in Lake Erie? Were there more records to share. I have researched genealogical records before, and would be interested in knowing if you have any specific references, including dates, actual locations, or names of key player involved in the unfortunate circumstances of Gilmore Justice. You do list some major items, but no specifics.  Technical Considerations. This section relates to the mechanics of your writing. A misspelling: incompentence incompetence A couple minor punctuation issues. You have three instances where you list a year without a comma following.  My Rating. 4.0.
