A "Game of Thrones"  Open in new Window. by Gaby Author Icon Review

Subject: The author writes of growing up in the city but longing for Scotland. The pull of the country and the desire to leave the city is strong. The title is connected as the author wonders what life would be if born elsewhere, born to the place that seems to be calling.

Flow: This is more free verse and takes the reader through a story. A daydreamer, hoping to be a surgeon, yet seeing themselves as a misfit, out of place, interested in things the majority of cityfolk are not.

Description: You excel here. The opening line itself conjures great imagery with the leaves dancing, which I loved, to the sun and the Scottish hillside. I liked how you described the brain with twists and turns, connecting the body.

Overall Impression: I agree with you about the expectations of living in a big city, how perceptions of what we are supposed to be, how to dress, and how to fill our spare time can take hold of our minds. Career choices fascinate this author, especially the intricate workings of the brain. Yet, Scotland continually calls and is always in the back of the mind. I wonder if you intend to visit, and if so, would your choices be the same? Will the pull still be as strong once you've seen it with your own eyes?
