Hello StephBee Author Icon

First impression:

A man called stew wants to eat BBQ. This is going to be good! His insistence that he won't ask for directions because he's a man sets the tone of the tale.

What works:

You did a perfect job incorporating these characters' peculiar ways of talking and giving directions into the prompt. It makes a lot of sense actually that people would describe the way to a place by landmarks rather than directions. It also seems that the streets in that town aren't grid like but rather grew around the lake in an organic way and it was never fixed.

The food descriptions made me want to stop in at Bubba's. I think it's the onion rings that made Russ fart. That will remain this story's secret.

I like how Evie insisted that they go to the tackle shop. In that small town, it's likely the tackle shop is her dad's or uncle's shop and she wants to make sure that he hears that all the out-of-towners are being sent there. Even if they don't need any fishing supplies.

What needs work:

pull into this convivence store *Right* I would call it "convenience." It seems that "convivence" means to coexist or to cohabit.

Final thoughts:

This was a very funny story. You hit all of the markers from names to accents to describing the way the people looked --- without describing them. I could see the whole thing happen right in front of me.
