I was scrolling through your port looking for a comedy, and I was happy to find this gem with a cat -- also a favorite topic of mine! I had a fun time reading it, and the personality of Dugan the cat was well done. I had no problem picturing his antics as he wasn't too happy with a dog coming over. I liked that you didn't blast the reader with a lot of detail on what he looked liked all at once and dropped them like breadcrumbs a long the way. I liked the way the tension built-up for the turn of events at the end. It's not easy to do with a 1k word count, but I thought it worked so well to add to the pace and add some drama at the same time. I had to laugh out loud at the four pages of instructions her friend gave her when she dropped the dog off. It reminded me of when I looked after a 'diva' cat--I got a whole binder and a video of instructions. It's an entertaining story, and I enjoyed the laughs a long the way! It was funny that the cat and dog could hear one another's thoughts, which helped with both of them trying to fight-off the burglar. I think the way it all came together at the end was a great way to finish it off. It's like a punchline to a joke, and it's always a good idea to leave the reader with a laugh. Well done!
