Writing.Com 101 [E] Explanations and instructions of all things Writing.Com. |
This is a "Game of Thrones" review! Hello, The StoryWitchress Overall Impression: This must have been a monster of a project to get started, and I imagine it's a considerable amount to maintain as changes are made to improve the site. Title and Description: I'd say that pretty much ticks all the boxes. The title is clear, and the description lays out exactly what a member is getting. Content: In general, I think the information contained in the sections and pages is well thought out and easy to follow. As someone who came here with very little knowledge about {braces} and such, and without anyone to 'show me the ropes' as it were, 101 was a big help. I referred to it often. The guide feels complete and thorough, and I haven't encountered anything missing that I couldn't find another way. As the guide is so big, there is a lot of linking involved, which occasionally gets the user stuck in a circular loop. Whether that it is a function of the links or a function of the user's abilities, I can't say. Well, I could say, but why would I embarrass myself like that? In all seriousness, I know the links are needed because of the way WdC is set up, but it can be a bit frustrating, especially as a newbie. Once you get used to it, it's pretty straightforward. One of the strengths of 101 is clear and actionable steps when you want to accomplish something. Once you find what you're after, getting things accomplished doesn't take ver long. It's also wonderful that you've credited everyone who was involved in creating it. A lot of sites won't do that, and it's always nice to be recognized for hard work. Once a user gets a handle on how everything fits together within 101, it's a great resource. Thank you for providing us with great resources!
