Hi Genipher Author Icon.

I'm Jace, and it's my distinct pleasure to read and comment on your offering "Happily Ever AfterOpen in new Window. for the "I Write in 2024Open in new Window..

*Note1*
Overall Impression. I must admit, until I signed up for two very different activities this year on WDC--this writing challenge and the Game of Thrones event--I didn't spend much time reading (or writing) stories for contests requiring fewer than 300 words. I had thought even the contest you entered required very limited word count.

Still nice to keep learning.

I enjoyed reading your offering. Congratulations. You hit the prompt perfectly, sliding in under the word count maximum. I like a writer who can make every word count--I mean, matter--and still push that allowable limit. In my book that takes skill.

You caught me. Your use of fantasy to write a story about the IRS and taxes certainly was inspired. I bet anyone dealing with the real-world IRS needs a dose of magic in their pocket. Your imagination has come up with a winning storyline, in my humble opinion.

I enjoyed your back and forth between Tim? and Fairy Godmother (except for that part I mention below).

Imagine that. Falsifying tax documents. What will that (unnamed) scamp get away with next?

Technical and Editorial Considerations.

*Bullet* I was a bit confused when I read the use of dearie by your protagonist.
I always imagined that term to be used by a female. It threw me a little reading it throughout the piece.

*Bullet* I enjoyed the pun of using Tinkerbell as the bell. It took me a while to get it; I think I expected some other part for Tinkerbell to play.
Sometimes I'm slow, but I get there eventually.

*Bullet* I found no problems with your grammar and punctuation.

My Rating.   5.0.  Good imaginative and well written tale.
